I keep reading posts from THR members who have dozens, if not hundreds, of guns. I have just seven, although if my gunshop-owner friend sees fit to reward me for doing his website, I'll have eight. With the exception of one revolver, they're all in the $700 to $1500 price range, and anything I want right now is in that range as well.

I'd love to buy more, but there are more pressing items: get the chimney rebuilt; remodel the bathroom...you get the idea.

So, who here has fewer guns than they do fingers?

I own 3 pistols and my wife has a shotgun (she used to hunt with her dad). I just sold one of the 3 pistols and bought an AR-15.

I've got a long list of guns I want, so maybe someday I'll have a huge collection like Monkeyleg :p

Monkeyleg, I have but only 17 and all are not within the range that your's are.

With the C&R (which already has given me three more to add up to 17), I foresee alot of others.

I don't think the idea is "how many" but what you want. I just like handguns and I want them all, from the cheap to the expensive. Others are more specific in their endeaver. I just like them all. I'm only 35 and if the laws don't change too much, I still have 35 more years (maybe) to get more.

We have eight handguns in our household. Five of them are mine; three belong to my wife.

I was up to twenty or so before I got laid off last year, and I had to condense the collection since then. I have all the basics covered, though, so this is probably the low watermark.

If all the long guns had slings and the pistols were encased I could carry them all. Only have about 20 or so. :D Hauling ammo for them would be a problem

Guess that would be two handfuls.

I only have a handful at any given time. I'm constantly buying, selling and trading. Sometimes I'll only own a gun for a month before I get rid of it. Sometimes I just want to see what one is like and if it isn't what I consider "fun" or "useful" then I trade it. Right now I'm down to 3, but that'll change in a week or so when I decide to buy another. I've had as many as 15 and as few as 1 so my inventory flows like the river.

In total, I've owned almost 20 firearms, but currently I'm at 8. I feel horrible if I can't shoot the ones that own, at least once a year. Besides my gunlocker says it will only hold 10 firearms, so that's pretty much my limit. However, I've had at least 8 long guns(3 of which were scoped), and 8 pistols in it at one point in time.

Dick, I have a few around, just enough to let them cool off between use. My main objective is to reload a fair amount of ordnance for the arms. I have accomplished that. KISS. 9mm 5.56 308 and 30-30 for fun, and a little shotshell in the mix as well. Most all arms are duplicate and use the same ammo as well.---------Chainsaw

I don't get that whole house remodeling thing... just buy more guns and the safes to hold them can be the remodel job...

Had the revolver 442 which I sold and used the money to do custom work on my Beretta compacts -- the Inox model is now my father's, but I bought a 686P 4" from S&W and so it's down to two. Hoping to add to it but I need a J.O.B. first.....;)

I own three, and that is just starting this year
(i became of age to buy a handgun)
one is a rifle though
my girlfriend thinks it is weird to go from zero to three so fast, but she'll get used to it.....now i just need to decide what i want next

Had many, many firearms (over 100 at one point). In the past two years, between my wife and I, there have been five layoffs, so the herd has been thinned to just two.

I guess it depends on how much interest and money you have .
If you start collecting in your 20's (like me) ,by the time you are 48 (like me )you might collect 40 pieces of junk ,then get divorced , then recover and build up a better (smaller) collection ,It all depends .
If you hit the lotto and have a place to store the arsenal you can have them all ! or maybe you might find boats more exciting ??
Ill trade maybe a FEW guns for a good woman ......
Hey , its all part of life , it comes and goes ....If you want 300 guns then GO FOR IT !
As Senator Phil Graham from Texas said : " I have all the guns that I need but not as many as I want " .

BYW. 'Bulldozer' : That quote was from Hartford Ct's own Sam Clemens (Mark Twain).

I actually own two, but have a much longer list of one's I've shot (extensive experience with loaners) and a list of 100 or so I'd like to buy.

I just recently thinned my collection in Half, selling 15 firearms in the last 6 months.

once you have too many it takes some of the fun out because you learn no gun well, sure general knowledge is good but back when I only owned 1 glock I shot that gun better then I do now.

Gun Collection

I am 25 and own 13 guns. I bought my first gun when I was 12 it was a Ruger 10-22. I decided that to keep my collection from getting out of hand I decided to make a list of all of the guns I would need to have a well rounded collection. The only problem is when I made up the whole list I had another 28 guns to buy. I hope my wife doesn't find the list she will be pissed

Two....a .380 and a .40.

Looking at a Ruger 10/22 and a few others.

I don't want to freak the wife out too much, so I'll probably self impose a limit of five or so at a time.

The only time you can have too many is when you can't store them properly.
