Flying into Denver with a gun

We’re making the grand swing through Wyoming this summer. We’ll be flying in to Denver. Our plans are to make the loop from Cheyenne, Thermopolis, Cody, Yellowstone, Laramie and flying back to Florida through Denver. Both Colorado and Wyoming honor my Florida CCP according to Handgunlaws.us...

    Move to Maryland?

We’re thinking of moving to Maryland. What am I going to run into as a gun owner/collector, NRA instructor and Florida concealed weapon permit holder? How tough is it to get a CWP in Maryland? The other option is Virginia but I’m leaning toward one of the small towns on the Eastern Shore of MD.

Recipe difference between Lee and Lyman

Generally the powder charges between the Lee Second Edition reloading manual and Lyman 49th are close if not identical. Recently I started reloading 380 and noticed a big difference between the two. Lee calls for 4.2minimum and maximum grains of Unique with a 95 grain FMJ but the Lyman recipe...

A gun and New Orleans Airport check-in

We are headed to New Orleans for a brief stay. I understand that Louisiana recognizes a Florida concealed carry permit. I don’t anticipate any problems checking a gun through from Florida. The real concern is…will I have any issues checking in at the New Orleans airport on the return trip?

    This is a joke...isn't it?

Would you carry this? I guess you enter the combination before you can fire the gun. This is their sales pitch: "Give me a second...no wait, I've got it....:uhoh: no...:cuss:"

No one should be above following the 4 rules

What on earth were they thinking? This is truly sad. RALEIGH, N.C. — Lance Cpl. Patrick Malone was relaxing on his bunk at an Iraqi combat base when a direct superior interrupted his late-night movie. It was time for a game Marines sometimes play to build confidence in colleagues...

    Practical Planning...

Be sure of your target and what's beyond it! I urge people to layout a safe "field of fire" in their home before the bad guy shows up. I mean actually draw out the floorplan of the house and possible shooting angles. This way they know they aren’t shooting into their child's bedroom. If...

    Ruger LCP?

I carry mine in a Kirkpatrick Leather Concealment Holster www.kirkpatrickleather.com/product/h_mclip.htm. It goes IWB and I forget I've got in on. If I have to tuck my shirt in I use the DeSantis pocket holster. In eather case, I always like to carry any gun with the trigger covered.

    Best .380 Pocket Piece

I have both the Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec and prefer the LCP. It just feels better to me - when I can get 380 ammo to shoot it - and has a better finish. The Ruger lives on my hip the Kel-Tec hides in the car. Both are full of JHP-XTP. And, yes the Ruger went back to mama for a checkup and came...

Loaded gun in the gun shop!?

Your experience may be different but I’ve found that a lot of people I know are buying guns and not getting direction or instruction.:banghead: What I hear from folks is that the courses are too expensive, too full and I’m not really going to shoot the gun, I’m not going hunting and I didn’t...

    New Shooters - Old Shooters....

The article in American Handgunner is exactly the reason I put together an entry level DVD on guns. I bought my first gun 3 years. At 63, I’m not easily intimidated; however I found getting into shooting a less than friendly experience. On my first trip to a gun store the owner, after...

Best Ammo for Ruger LCP and Kal-Tec P-3AT

What are you all using in your Ruger LCP’s and Kal-Tec P-3AT’s? I have both but my favorite ammo - Fiocchi - jams in the magazines of both guns (380 ACP – 90 gr. JHP). Winchester 380 FMJ – white box - feeds fine but I’m looking for a little more defensive power. Any recommendations?

Gun as a gift in Florida

Our babysitter - a widow about 65 - was robbed in her home. They broke in while she was asleep and stole prescription medicines. She ask to borrow a gun in the event the BGs came back - they haven’t caught them and the local cops indicated that they may come back. I told her that I would...

    Hollow points illegal ?

It's the last sentence of this story that has me concerned. Possession of hollow points illegal ? Since when? IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP) — A gunman shot a driver stopped at a traffic light and killed a pedestrian early Sunday, and the same man may be responsible for the shooting of a police...

Is a fanny pack considered concealed? In Florida?

Wow…this is the last place I expected to hear from the fashion police. I’m going to suggest to Bianchi that they re-name their fanny packs “Tactical Packs” or TP for short and include an abstract version of popular handgun logos or lightning bolts. “Yo Bubba…throw me my TP and let’s go...

Is a fanny pack considered concealed? In Florida?

I’m new to guns. Current events made me realize that personal protection was something I should take a look at…especially given the possibility that purchasing a gun and/or ammunition might become difficult or impossible in the future. I also discovered that target practice is kind of fun and...
