I want a .17 HMR, which one is best?

I have a Savage that is the early model with no accu trigger. I placed a new trigger in it and now love it. My best freind has a cz and I will tell you that if I could do it all over again I would have gotten the cz. I don't think they are that much more than the Savage. Went shooting the other...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

utvolsfan77 that is a great link and thanks for posting it. I am still reading through it and most of it I have read but it does help with it relating to a 30.06. I will set the bullet of the lands .020 and then work the powder load up from 53 gr. with .5 gr increments. Looks like I will be...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

I would love to hear what the results are from your trip to the range utvolsfan77. It sounds like we are in the same boat. What tool are you using to measure the ogive? I was thinking of getting the sinclair hex shaped tool. Also how much jump are you going from the lands? It sounds like this...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

gamestalker that sounds good to me. The only reason that I chose to go with the Nosler ballistic tips is what I found Winchester is using in there ammo, so I figured that was a good place to start considering my rifle does great with those factory loads.

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

mdi I thank you for the information you have given and respect the fact that you do not want anyone to be hurt from the load you recommend. I also want you to know that I did work with 5 loaded loads at 56 gr, 5 loaded loads at 56.5 gr, and 5 loaded loads at 57 gr,. After each shoot I would look...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

You are correct about the what the factory load told me but it was information, also you have to consider that I had to start some were. You have told me nothing about a load you are using so you are only going of off information not experience. Yes every gun, powder, temp, humidity, elevation...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

Thank everyone for all the information and I want everyone to know that this was just a starting point for me. What gr powder would you start with when using a 165 gr Nosler ballistic tip? I have listened and will start low to work high but what would be the low point for working the load? Also...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

yes I know that the load I was using was at the top of the load chart. Also according to Nosler that was best accuracy combination used for that round. In regards to the expectations I have it would be that I could shoot sub MOA at 100 yards. The reason I took one of the Winchester rounds apart...

    Trouble finding good 3006 reload

I am very new to reloading and I have been working on reloading for my 3006. Now it is a Remington 700 1-10 twist and I am using IMR4350 56.5 gr with a Nosler ballistic tip 165 gr. I have played with 56-57 gr and seem to get the best results from the 56.5 gr. Also I can tell you that my rifle...

    Going long....

I was reading what everyone has to say and it is a lot of information. I can tell you I own .22lr, .17hmr, soon to come 22-250, and 7mm. I love the .17hmr and if you have not shoot it then go do it now. Love that round! I also am looking to shoot 1000 yards and started to build a 7mm but stopped...

    Do I need a 20MOA scope base for 22-250?

I am putting together a varmint/predator rifle. It will be in 22-250 and I have already bought the scope (Zeiss 6.5-20x50 Conquest) Now I will have a 1-9 twist and this will allow me to shoot 70-80 gr. bullets. I would like to take some shoots out to 600-800 yards but it will be far and few...

    What scope rings?

I have just bought a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 for my Savage VLP DBM 22-250 and need some advise on scope rings. I have bought the DNZ and placed it on my 17 hmr and have no concerns with it. This is my first big scope purchase and would like to get everything out of this set up that I can. I also...

Help me decide 22-250 vs ar-308

This is all good information and I can tell you that from listening to people I am leaning towards the 22-250. There is only one problem, I only have access to 300 yards and we don't really have ground squirrels in NC. We do have squirrels but they are just 50 yards away most the time. The other...

Help me decide 22-250 vs ar-308

The thing is I have two big caliber rifles and only a 17hmr (love that gun). I wouldn't be hunting with the rifle but i would love to hit multiple targets at long range. I love the ability to move from one target to the next with not cycling the bolt. At the same time I love the performance of a...

Help me decide 22-250 vs ar-308

I have a chance to buy one more rifle before my life is turned around with having another child. I have always wanted a ar platform 308. If I did do this I would want one that is accurate and fun to shoot. I have also wanted a 22-250 for long range, now I do reload so that helps with cost in the...

    Awesome RCBS customer service

I just went through the same thing and RCBS has some of the best customer service I have seen in a long time. I will be buying a new single stage press and I will probably buy one from them because of the customer service.
