How do you adjust red dot sights?

I'm a firm believer in reading instructions. I learned that from my wife :) . however the instructions that came with this sight had nothing to say about sighting it in...only on how to install the battery--along with a great set of "Engrish" sayings. Sigh... Some great advice from all of...

How do you adjust red dot sights?

It's a cheap reflux ($59). I checked the weaver mount and it was solid. I think shimming the dang thing will be the only way to get it to work right. I forgot that when I first starting shooting with it, I don't think I even hit the target backboard (about 2 ft below bullseye) at 25 yards...

Good red dots for under $75???

Yes...I think that can be done. I know it sounds silly but heck the sight only cost $59 so using a piece of aluminum can would be right in line with the value of the sight itself. :)

I need a ML for Elk

You might want to steer clear of in-lines if you plan on shooting smokepoles for years to come. The trend is showing to be that states are banning the use of in-lines during "Muzzleloading Hunts". Oregon already has and so has Idaho and several other states. It's only a matter of time when...

How do you adjust red dot sights?

Ok...I'll just admit it...I'm stupid or something. I just bought this NCstar compact red dot tactical sight for my Ruger Mark III and took it to the range. I adjusted the sight (using screw adjuster) to shoot as high as I could but still couldn't hit the target at 15 yards. Red dot was...

Anyone have experience with red dot sights for pistols?

I just purchased an NCSTAR compact tactical red dot sight for my Ruger Mark III Target pistol, attached it and took it to the range. :banghead: The dang thing has my pistol shooting almost 2 feet below target even though I've adjusted the sight upwards to its highest point. What am I doing...

Good red dots for under $75???

Unfortunately, rcmodel may be correct. I just purchased an NCStar compact red dot tactical sight for my .22 pistol. I can't adjust the dang thing up high enough to hit the target. Pistol shoots 1-1.5 feet below target when the Dang red dot is on bullseye at 15 yards! I got so frustrated I...

Gonna buy my first handgun (trying to decide between P22 and Ruger 22/45 etc)

Being a Mark III owner and having to deal with the regular take down and clean up, I would lean towards looking at a different gun altogether. Look into a Browning Buck Mark. I've heard they're easier to fieldstrip and clean than the Mark III. You should also be able to pick one up for about...

Is Loctite necessary for weaver mount on Mark III?

I've recently purchased a Ruger Mark III pistol (Target Bullnose) that came with a "custom" weaver mount. I want to put a red dot wide field sight on the weaver mount. My question is: do I have to use Loctite on the screws to attach the mount or can I get by with simply checking the mount...

ideas on a centerfire range gun for a youngster

I've found my Taurus PT-92B to be quite accurate also and the kick isn't a whole lot more than my Ruger Mark III. I'm somewhat new to shooting and felt the same way your son did...wanted something with more testosterone behind it. :) Does your son's gun have non-adjustable rear sights? If...

Replacing fixed mount rear sights with optics?

Thanks Wally. Your sight mount looks like it would fit mine. I'll check it out. Any other idea's out there? Maybe if I included a picture that would help.

Replacing fixed mount rear sights with optics?

Bumping up to the top. HELP

Replacing fixed mount rear sights with optics?

I have a Taurus PT92B (made 2001) that was made before the tactical rails were introduced. My question is (and I know it may be stupid but I've seen some mighty smart idea's on this forum over time!) can the rear "fixed mount" be removed and a scope mount or some other mount be put in its place...

    Black Powder vs Substitutes--shooting differences?

Finally had a chance to get to the range yesterday. Did some serious comparisons between BP and 777. Used PRB's and modified the 777 to be about 15% less than the BP. First shot 10 rounds using BP...then 10 rounds with 777. For simplicity sake I shot 100 grains BP and 85 grains 777. Also...

.45 Caliber barrel in T/C Renegade for Deer Hunting

After searching the web on different in-lines I have to agree with you Articap. For about the same price as a new drop-in GM barrel one can pick up a decent CVA dedicated sabot shooter that's designed for higher black powder loads with scope mounts. Where I live, you can shoot any old...

Buck Mark Challenger or Ruger Standard

The new Mark III's come with adjustable sites...at least mine did. Also come with rails for glass sites. I was really torn between the Buckmark and Rugers Mark III. Went with the Ruger since my wife already had a Ruger Mark I and I was used to field stripping and cleaning. Never shot a...

    Ruger Mk1 Target Model

Sounds like it to me too. I lucked out two years ago and bought my wife a Ruger MK I that came in it's original box with papers and instruction manual. It's the "Target" version too and in excellent shape. However, her's didn't come with anything wooden. It's darn accurate too...

.45 Caliber barrel in T/C Renegade for Deer Hunting

Hey Y'all, I was pondering the thought of purchasing a Green mountain replacement barrel for my T/C Renegade .54 caliber to hunt deer with (I would keep my .54 for Elk and other large game). My thoughts were (probably incorrect) that a .45 caliber saboted bullet (180-200 gr) with higher charge...

    Black Powder vs Substitutes--shooting differences?

I'll let you guys know what happens when I can get back to the range. I was using Goex ffg BP with PRB's when I switched to the 777. I'm going to try and compare the two due to the problems getting BP. I've also heard that BP is more corrosive (due to the sulfur) so that was another reason...

    Black Powder vs Substitutes--shooting differences?

Yup, you guessed right about the "substitute" brand and type. With this particular brand (777), is it worth trying to salvage and reduce my loading rate (as suggested by the second reply) or should I chuck it and either: a) try a different brand or b) stick with BP?
