    The Swedish Model 94 Carbine

Does anyone know why the Swedes chose to adopt a carbine M94-barrel length 17.7 in -before they adopted a std. length-29 in - infantry rifle M96. My thought is that most countries adopting a Mauser rifle adopted a long infantry rifle first and then a carbine.

I ask the question due to looking for coyotes on my atv with a scoped rifle in the gun rack.. I note that the vibration of the rifle in my traverse mounted gun rack is...

M57 (Yugo Tokarev) firing pin removal

I recently got a new M57 and note that the Serbs have adopted something like the 1911 firing pin stop on their version 9 shot version of the Tokarev along with some other improvements/changes. However, the firing pin stop does not come out as easy as all the 1911 stops I have manipulated over...

    Springfield Armory M6 Survival Rifle

19 years with an M6 I have had one for 19 years. I got it as camping gun in Michigan. My son when he was 12 used the .410 for preserve pheasants. It has really come into it own as a "useful" mountain/truck grouse gun while Elk hunting or mountain treking in Idaho. Standard velocity .22 s...

    Rifle musket barrel relining/replacement

Thanks for the input Thanks to everyone for the input. In that my Musketoon was used I don't know how many rounds it had through it before I got it. On reflection, my bug for a new or relined barrel is so I can see how an origanl Parker Hale mold minie will shoot. Euroarms lists their...

    Rifle musket barrel relining/replacement

I have been shooting a used Euroarms Enfield Musketoon for about two years now and have put about 1000 rounds through it. The bug has hit me to have it relined to compensate for wear. I note on N-SSA site Whiteacre and Hoyt seem to be the top replacement barrel vendors. 1. Does the...

    Parker Hale 58560 Minie Mold

I picked up the top half of a Parker Hale .58 Minie mold at a gun show last May. Not having the bottom plug I tried my bottom plug from a Lyman 575611PH mold. It was too small. I have an old 500 grain RCBS Minie mold from which I tried the bottom plug. It fit. Also, I found the RCBS mold...

    Removing "frozen" revolver nipples

Sometime ago I was given an old replica 1858 Remington New Model Army .44 cylinder. It sat on my desk as paper weight until I happened to have my Pietta 1858 on the desk for some reason. I tried the paper weight cylinder in the the 1858 and it fit! In fact it shoots better than the original...

    Lubed wads in hot weather?

Ordnance lube I have the same problem in the Summer months here is SW Idaho. 105 is not uncommon and shoots in 90 degree weather are the rule. I found the US Ordnance lube formula from the Civil War era useful. 9 parts beeswax to 1 part beef tallow was the original mixture. I can't get beef...
