Hello,
I have shot in a 8 inches barrel a standart 44 mag and a subsonic one with 7.1gr of vv N340.
On the left of the picture is the subsonic load result and on the right the factory bullet. I am not sure the load is good,an expert's eye is welcome :)
Thanks for your help.
On my LnL I have the priming problem too. Sometimes it's not possible to prime because the shellplate is not properly align ! There is a gap of 1mm.
I didn't find the solution. All is cleaned and the problem appear randomly. I suspect the spring around the shellplate which create some friction.
Hello,
I am looking for a safe 44 mag subsonic load (powder volume >30%) with 240 gr bullet and vithavuori powder. It will be shoot in a 20 inch barrel.
I know the 300 gr is a good choice but I don't find them in my country and I have read that you need a good twist barrel to stabilize...
I have contact Dillon and they said it's not possible on the 550.
With most pistol case I undersand it's easy to control but with rifle bottleneck case I prefer a powder check system.
I have a look in Dillon, RCBS and Hornady dies in a catalog and I didn't find any seat and crimp all-in-one.
Difficult choice but I think I will go for the Hornady LNL.
I have see the Dillon XL650 and 1050 in action. Very good press but it take more time to switch between different caliber.
Another thing, I have read that the Hornady powder system is more accurate.
Hi,
I wish to know if there is a way to have a powder check system on that wonderful 550 ? The Dillon 650 is really too much expensive just for adding a powder check.
Maybe someone can recommand me another press ? I want around the same price of the 550 and easy to switch with others...
At 50 or 100 yards the 45 ACP has really more power. I shooted some heavy metal target with the 45 and the 9, the 9mm hasn't enough power to put them down...
I haven't the load but from a french magazine with an article about the Mas 49/56, they list a few interesting powder to use for the 7.5x54:
-Tubal 3000 & 5000 (see manual n°6 of R. Malfatti and Sp9 Sp7)
-Vihtavuroti N-140 & N-540
else see manual Hornady n°7.
