Wal-Mart fires employees for disarming gunman. Tell them no!

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=14319284 This is ridiculous. The policy forbids employees to endanger themselves to protect merchandise. In this case, however, they were clearly fighting for their lives. Shut down their switchboard! Call the Layton, UT store at (801) 546-1992 and ask for...

How do you feel about the prerequisites about obtaining a CCW permit

nwilliams, you do know that in your home state of Arizona, no training or licensing is required for an adult to open carry a pistol, right? Has this caused big problem? A small problem? No problem at all? Many people in this thread have suggested that there is a practical test of rights...

Police Trainee Accidentally Killed By Instructor

Except that in this case, what the instructor did was the equivalent of staying up all night, drinking, doing drugs, putting on a blindfold, and then driving. He didn't make a single mistake. He broke a long string of safety rules, with utterly predictable tragic results. [edit: spelling]

    GunVault (pistol safe) Questions

Nope, mine is the base model. It opened twice a day for over four years on a set of Energizers. Think they'd put me in a commercial?

A search in absence of probable cause certainly is criminal, state laws notwithstanding.

    GunVault (pistol safe) Questions

Hee hee! This zombie thread has been resurrected to tell you that at 4.5 years, the low-battery indicator finally came on on my GunVault 1000. Eight AAs every four years isn't bad. :)

Police Trainee Accidentally Killed By Instructor

I think it's worth resurrecting this thread to show the outcome. The trainer who shot and killed the recruit was busted down to deputy, got a 30-day rip, and is back on the job. To settle the lawsuit, the county paid a million dollars to the cadet's family and agreed to review the training...

America's Great Gun Game--a new book on gun control

Beware any sentence beginning with "It is obvious." Truly obvious things need not be stated. For the purposes of rhetoric, however, it is an attempt to present opinion as fact. You should probably take this as a sign that you should venture off campus. :) Because they fail to reduce crime...

    Be a sheepdog!

I had no idea I was such a creepy, dumb poseur cop wannabe. I guess I should go back and tell all of my carry students and the more than 50 carry instructors that I've certified what a jerk I am. If you can't tell the difference between a carry badge (and yes, Virginia, I do make a point of...

    CCW advice wanted

I have no problem carrying a Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro (9mm, 12+1) in the front pocket of either cargo pants or cargo shorts. A pocket holster will keep out much of the lint. Don't carry anything else in the pocket, and clean weekly. Works for me!

You don't have to agree with Grossman, but you might want to read before passing judgment. Here's the whole thing: http://hobbes.ncsa.uiuc.edu/onsheepwolvesandsheepdogs.html

    Be a sheepdog!

Golly -- that was not the reaction I expected. A doggy pin isn't a "badge," any more than a THR hat or shirt. Do you run when you see a THR hat? (In fact, I tried to get a THR pin off the ground, but nothing ever came of it: http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=41638#post1781867 ) The dog...

    Be a sheepdog!

I've always wanted some low-key way for permit holders to identify each others. And I'm a big fan of David Grossman's "On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs" essay. So when I found these, I ordered four dozen, announced them on the local TwinCitiesCarry.com forum, and they sold out in a day! Would...

Reasons the Republicans lost the House:

Republicans lost -- big -- because our adventure in Iraq is (correctly) perceived as a disaster, not because the Republican administration and majority were not conservative enough. This election was a referendum on President Bush, and Americans said "no confidence" loud and clear. Any...
