    Planning to Customize a 1911 - Would a S&W 1911 Be a Good Base Gun?

I have the stainless version with fixed sights. Mine has a very tight frame to slide fit, no movement at all up and down or side to side. The grip safety is perfectly fitted and the thumb safety is perfect positive on or off click. I'm not sure where adw got his info but from what I've...

    Swiss K31 or Nagant 1891/30

Okay with all of your help I have narrowed it down to these two. Basically I will be using this as an introduction to rifles. Been a handgun shooter for a while and I figured I'll give the long guns a try and I wanted to try something cheap early on to see what I may be interested in and the...

My Recent Experiences with my S&W99 need to vent (long)

My department issues the SW99 (.40) but I have always carried my personally owned Sig P226 (.40). I tried the SW99 out for fun, something new, and I noticed that it was very comfortable in my hand, recoiled relatively softly and was dead on accurate. The only problem I had was that every 100...

Paging Stephen Camp: Questions about the .40S&W

I recently shot a Beretta 92fs and a Sig P226 in .40 back to back. I noticed know difference in recoil between the two...they were both quite pleasant. The 9mm round was 115 grain +P and the .40 was 155 grain. FWIW.

    155 or 180 grain .40S&W

If you had to choose between Federal Hydrashok in either 155 grain or 180 grain which would you go with and why? Those are your only 2 choices. No you can't stretch it to a 10mm or enlarge it to a .45 or shrink it to a 9mm or .357 and you certainly can't change to a .30-06. Lets please try...

I'm not trying to be snippy here but...oh what the heck I a trying to be snippy....For those of you who chose to disparage the .40 in your posts please keep your negative comments to yourselves. I certainly didn't ask for them. I like the .40 and that is why I asked which .40 not which 9mm or...

.357 sig wears guns out faster then .40?

Does the .357 Sig round wear guns out faster then the .40? I have the P226 so thats the one I'd be thinking of. I thought I heard something about the Texas DPS cracking frames but I don't know if there was any validity to it. Anyone know?

Hardest recoiling of the WWII bolt actions?

re which mosin I would be thinking of the 1891/30. For the most part I am thinking of the full size rifles. My impression from others is that the mosin carbines kick quite a bit more then the 91/30
