If "He's not really a gun-nut" means that he shoots less than a couple of times per year, then he might consider sticking to a revolver. Less room for user error, no FTF's.
First gut
I wouldn't consider a Glock as a DAO, they don't have a hammer.
Glocks are very reliable and are lower priced than a lot of other choices. If you join GSSF, I think you can get a new one for about $400.
Personally I think your first handgun should be a revolver.
Sig vs. Glock
I voted for the Glock. Do consider the G27 though with the Pearce PG2733 extensions(they make the grip have the same as the G23). I own the 23 and the 27, but I carry the 27 more these days.
I also like the extra capacity and the price of the glocks.
Florida
This topic tells me that Florida is on to something.
If you aren't charged with a crime in a defensive shoot, then you can't be sued for it either.
Castle laws are beneficial.
I had a seller respond to a WTB post that I made.
I asked the seller for the serial # of the firearm, so that I can call the manufacturer to check for updates since the production of his, recalls, date of manufacture, etc.
I also said that I wanted to check the serial # on the FDLE web...
I currently carry a Sig P232(.380), but, I want to go to a heavier round. I like the skinny slide and I want to go to a 9mm or a .40 cal. Not a micro, more like a compact or sub-compact. Any suggestions?
