Handguns in DC suburbs? (Silver Spring)

There's no general "handgun ban" in Maryland except for 'assault pistols' [AR15 of AK pistols]. The State Police have a list of approved handguns: http://www.mdsp.org/services/handgun.asp and there are very few pistols that aren't on the list. I believe this list applies to new purchases...

Another "first impression" of the Sub2000

Thanks for the great writeup. I thought I remembered seeing a step-by-step howto online somewhere of a disassembly/polishing guide for a trigger-job of the Sub2K, but couldn't find it with a quick google search. Anyone know where to find this? Kingjoey - do you work at/run a shop that does...

You can easily make your own spent casing valve caps by placing a drop of super glue inside a .40 and sliding a regular valve cap inside it - a little more authentic IMO.

Can a DC resident buy a shotgun in another state, and bring back to DC?

DC Code doesn't state how disassembled, but does indicate a trigger lock is also an acceptable means of disabling the firearms.

Can a DC resident buy a shotgun in another state, and bring back to DC?

You'd have a better chance of seeing nationwide CCW laws pass in Congress than have any distributor/retailer ship you a C&R firearms to the District. Yes - it MAY be legal, but I've had major online retailers refuse to ship even small parts like stocks & spring to my DC work address.

Can a DC resident buy a shotgun in another state, and bring back to DC?

Transfers are handled through DC Police Firearms Registration Division. They can be reached at (202) 727-4275 and are located in room 3077 of Police HQ at 300 Indiana Ave. NW. As K-Romulus said, after getting the appropriate paperwork from MPD you can go ahead and purchase from an FFL in MD &...

    WASR range report

Yep, they're great. If you do have trigger slap it's a 10 minute fix with a dremel: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm Also Tantal is great for Russian optics, but you have to email him for order info - no 'buy' button: [email protected]

What if you don't have a "dominant" eye?

Have you tried this basic test? http://www.archeryweb.com/archery/eyedom.htm It's important not to think about the test while performing it or you could subconsciously bias yourself.

Question about DC gun ban issue

I've lived in the DC area & the city itself for most if my life, including some of the more questionable neighborhoods [Shaw & Columbia Heights for those familiar]. Here are a few of my observations/opinions based on my experiences, from first hand accounts of friends who have been the victims...

DC Gun Buy Back this weekend!

No roadblocks - trust me - MPD is happy to take the guns no questions asked. There's been an armed robbery spree in my GF's DC neighborhood [emphasis on hood] & last night someone tried to pull one on an off duty officer. gun battle ensued. Anyway, the Chief was in front of the City...

Omaha NE mall shooting - JUST THE FACTS PLEASE

bluestarlizzrd wrote: "now are those the same guns or are they different? do you feel they should be used interchangeable?" No, I agree with you. About the only thing the AK & SKS share is caliber of ammunition. He may well have used a .22 bolt action squirrel gun - I'm just relaying what...

Omaha NE mall shooting - JUST THE FACTS PLEASE

Bluestarlizzard wrote: "but he didn't, he used an SKS. " Are you sure? I know a lot of folks are reporting SKS-this-and-that, but MSNBC just claimed it was a WASR-10 & were pretty specific on manufacturer [Century] & caliber [7.62x39].

Omaha NE mall shooting - JUST THE FACTS PLEASE

MSNBC just reported it was a Century WASR-10 in 7.62x39. Graphic shown was of an AKM-type rifle with 30 round mag, slant brake & thumb-hole/Dragunov-style stock.

US Park Police in DC used to carry HK P7M8's, but I believe have transitioned to Sig's. CIA did issue/train on Glock 19's at some point.

    AK trigger

What MRIman said - just grab a Dremel tool and these instructions: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm and go to town. Got the slap-tastic trigger on my SAR-1 almost as nice and smooth as my RRA AR-15 match trigger. -dc2wheel
