Ahh... the 1911 MilSpec woes continue...

Yeah, I know, it seems like such a strange malfunction. One suggestion I received was that perhaps the magazine catch is out of spec and not holding the magazine high enough or at the correct angle. That seems like a logical possibility. I guess we'll see what SA says...

Ahh... the 1911 MilSpec woes continue...

Eric, I had originally assumed that the gun was just magazine sensitive, so I tried a whoooooole bunch of different mags. Here is a list of the mags I've tried in the gun thus far: 1) Springfield Armory OEM 7-round magazines, with the dimpled follower 2) Colt OEM 7-round magazines, with the...

    Glocks and CZ's

I will just add to the love for CZs in this thread. I have a CZ75b and I absolutely love it. It is such a reliable, accurate, easy to shoot pistol. It probably will not be my last CZ either...

Ahh... the 1911 MilSpec woes continue...

Yes, the magazines I'm using were Colt OEM 7-rounders made my Checkmate with the "hybrid" style feed lips. I was also using one Checkmate-branded magazine of the same type.

Ahh... the 1911 MilSpec woes continue...

Just had to rant a bit, and ask for a bit of forum advice. I bought my Springfield 1911A1 MilSpec because I wanted a bare-bones, basic model 1911. My first range trip with the pistol, it started having a problem with hammer follow-down. IE I would thumb the slide release and the hammer would...

    Lothar Walther Barrels?

I was just perusing some match barrels and I was wondering if anyone had experience with Lothar Walther Barrels. How do they compare to, say, Douglas, Shilen, Lilja, et al? Thanks, Nic

    Savage Stocks - Which?

I thought about both those options... I really want a stock with an adjustable cheekpiece, which I am sure the B&C Medalist does not have. I will call and see if Stockade offers their stock unfinished but with the adjustable cheekpiece. Thanks, Nic

    Savage Stocks - Which?

Hello All- I was looking at two stocks to potentially replace the B&C Duramaxx on my Savage 10FP. The first is the Sharp Shooter Supply Laminate Varmint Tactical. With the adjustable cheek piece and butt hook, the total cost for the stock would be $374. The second is the Stockade Prairie Dog...

    Weird Garand sighting problem

Better tell the US Navy that. @ cracked butt.. I'll have to double check when I get home to see if perhaps the sight is binding too high. I hadn't thought of that. -Nic

    Weird Garand sighting problem

Thanks for the inputs, guys. Actually, I should have mentioned that this rifle is a .308 garand and I was shooting argentine surplus 7.62x51 (150gr projectile). When I was resting the rifle it was resting on the fore of the buttstock, and I was shooting at a standard SR1 target. So perhaps I...

    Weird Garand sighting problem

Yeah, that makes sense. What I need to fix for sure is that it shoots so high even with the elevation completely bottomed out. Thanks, Nic

    Weird Garand sighting problem

Hi All- I have been having some strange issues with my Garand. Off the bench at 100 yards, using a six o'clock hold the point of impact is usually 5 inches or so above the x ring. I've tried adjusting the sights, but the rear elevation is completely bottomed out. What's also strange is that at...

    PRVI 308 168gr Match ammo...

Hello all- Has anyone tried this stuff: http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8458 It looks like decent ammo for a decent price, but I can't seem to find any reviews of it anywhere. Good? Bad? Ugly? FWIW, I'd likely be shooting it out of my Savage 10fp. How does this ammo compare...

Battle of the CA Legal .223's: Saiga vs Su-16

It ain't a California related thread without at least one of these kinds of posts. Thanks for the advice. I voted Saiga.
