The way I see it is that Midway rather sell primers than have to deal with the back orders and phones inquires that don't generate revenue.
I'm not disagreeing that some products might be marketed that way but I don't think that's how Midway does business. It wouldn't make sense for any...
Well if I were to get the Taurus it wouldn't be that one. That's a little too flashy for me.
No offense if there are any owners. The rule always is buy what you like right?
I really do like the look and features of the Taurus but the thought of a nightmare support process had really scared me away. It would be great if I never have to warranty the gun but what if I do and it's just a terrible experience? I know that can be said about any company but the overall...
Thanks for everyone's input regarding this. After researching everyones suggestions I am 90% sure I am going to get the Springfield Mil-Spec. It seems like the safest choice all around when considering quality, reliability, and customer service.
Thanks for the Taurus reply. I have nothing bad or good to say about Taurus. I've never owned or fired one. That's why we have these forums. I am just asking for everyone's real world opinions about each firearm.
I expect this to be the 1911 I will own for a long time so I want to make sure...
I've been reading. Looks like there is more information on the Taurus and the Springfield over the Para.
I like the look of the Taurus, specifically the beaver tail, the ambi safety, and the two tone. I've never owned a Taurus but it seem there are two types of opinions for the PT1911. Either...
Ok guys, I've been reading up a bit and I think I've narrowed it down to the few below.
Para GI Expert
Springfield GI Mil-Spec
Taurus PT1911
I've also read a little about the RIA GI Tactical but I am concerned about the finish holding up.
I stopped by Gander Mountain on the way home...
I used the search NGIB. My thread is based on the $500 price point and was expecting suggestions specific to that. I read through all the best 1911 threads but all the best 1911's are well more than $500.
I was hoping to hear from the members that were in the same situation and could only...
I've seen a few comments about the Parkerized finish on the RIA's not being very durable. Can anyone tell me how this compares to a standard blue? I know the barrel at the ejection port on my XDm shows a good bit of wear after 500 rounds.
Great feedback all. I am making a list of models to research. Does anyone know which ones are commonly seen or available at gun shows? I am in Wisconsin.
Herohog, I don't have the funds at this time to even consider your offer.
I want to thank everyone for the feedback but I really want to stay at or close to $500. This is the happy medium for the wife, she accepts it and doesn't fight it.
I am still researching everyone's suggestions. I need to get up to speed on 1911's before the gun show.
