    Tuner: Slide stop hypothetical..

Heya 1911T and other interested parties. I was monkeyin' around with two of my Colts the other day, a Defender and a Combat Commander. Couldn't resist switching top ends around to create a "CCO" model to see how it looked and felt. (I liked it.) Anyhow something popped into my head about...

Shooting 10mm in .45acp magazines? Yes!

Maybe this should be over in General Handguns or Semi Autos, but I wanted Mr. 1911 Tunerman to read this and quickly comment if he thinks I'm flirtin' with disaster or anything... Due to having a hard time finding magazines for my just-acquired Delta Elite, I got the bright idea to try...

    CCW stupidity in Ohio--er, Kentucky..

Sorry to plagiarize the thread title from you, Sleeping Dog, but this is actually pretty funny/sad. Yesterday, I was out and about in Newport Kentucky, which is across the river from Cincinnati, Oh. Started to enter a clothing/thrift store (Village Discount in Newport Shopping Center) when I saw...

Ohio GUN CLUB says "No CCW here!"

Oh. GUN CLUB says "No CCW here!" Thought you folks would be interested. Last Friday at Fairfield Sportmens Association, I noticed they'd erected a sign at the entrance that said: "No concealed carry of firearms on this property, except by sworn law enforcement personnel". Thought that was...

    1911 Tuner..a kwestion:

Howdy, as you like to say. I was reading something interesting on one of these gunboards recently about Springfield A's newer 1911s, with the ILS thingy. They use a heavier mainspring than normal, and supposedly this has the same helpful effect on trigger pull as the ol' "boosting the trigger"...

    Allowed to gripe here?

No worries, it's on topic. Just wish that little blue Guide to Colt Dates of Production book--or whatever it's called--by R.L. Wilson would get updated. It only goes up to 1978...pretty sure that Colt's made at least a few firearms since then. The other little gun show guidebooks, (Winchester...

    Those cursed drawstrings!

Just got myself a new parka, and spent a few minutes getting rid of the dang built-in pistol snaggin' bungee cords so many coats come with these days. Seems like they oughta call 'em "louse up your draw strings!. Am I overthinking this, or will one or more of you out there give me an "AMEN?"...

    S&W model 1066..Oh, Bren....

Well, anyone's welcome to chime in of course. Just giving a "shout out" to Brenasaurus Rex, while I'm at it. Anyhow, got a chance to get a pretty decent, used model 1066 for about $420 or so. (Private sale, no paperwork or tax.) These guns strong enough to last a while, with...

    Have target stands, will travel...

Vacationing soon, will be going thru Big South Fork Nat'l. Rec. Area, and Land Between the Lakes region, along Ky./Tenn. border. I plan on taking targets, stands, pasters, etc. Any public ranges available in those areas? How about bowling pin matches, or IDPA? I'll look at the IDPA site, but...
