I have searched and not been able to clearly define what determines an individuals state of residence for face to face sales. For example if two individuals live in the same state but one still has a drivers license from another state, can a face to face firearm sale be done without using a...
Received my .45-70 barreled action today
I received my barreled action from ER Shaw today and just wanted to share some pics with THR.
Below is what I had done to the Siamese Mauser action:
Alter Siamese Mauser action for .45-70 cal.
True bolt face
True face of receiver
Lap locking...
I am in the process of building up a DPMS lower and when I put the selector switch in, the trigger no longer has enough travel to release the hammer.
The LPK is Rock River as well and I made sure the selector switch is on "FIRE".
Any ideas?
Thanks
Marlin 1895GS Barrel Diameter
I have searched the internet to no avail.
What is the outer diameter of the Marlin 1895GS barrel at the muzzle?
Also when building a custom barrel this is one of the following material types, 4140 steel in the white.
What does "in the white" mean...
Jim,
Thanks for the information. I have no problem with bubbafying this action. My purchase did not come with a stock, just an action with a corroded barrel. The action is in pretty good shape so it seemed like the perfect candidate for a .45-70.
NCsmitty,
I have not really thought...
MMCSRET,
I guess I am not sure whether it is a 8x50R or 8x52R. It is a M98 siamese mauser with mud cover and has the chrysanthemum crest and some siamese? symbols stamped on it. I would guess it has never been converted to 8x52R. Is there a way to tell by looking at it?
Ben
I have recently purchased a Siamese Mauser action that I would like to send to ER Shaw for conversion to .45-70. Looking over their gunsmithing prices I have put together the list of services I believe I will need:
Alter Siamese Mauser actions for .45-70 cal.
Forge and polish bolt handle...

How would I be able to buy the gun if I am suppose to always carry the $500? It basically has to be money I would never spend, money that could be in the bank making lousy interest.
I asked and it has to be 500 American dollars, no checks, no credit cards.
Thanks for all the replys, good thing I will be moving out of this county in a short time. Every 6 months the city newspaper(very liberal) prints all the CCW holders names in the county and once a year in January they print all the holders in the state. I guess that information is public...
That is what you fill on the form, but it is stated on the permit as.
RESTRICTIONS:
VALID ONLY WHEN CARRYING AMT STATED $500 MIN
Whether you carry $500 often or never, in order for the permit to be valid you have to have the money on you everytime you carry.
sumpnz: There is no link that states this restriction, but it is well known in my county that this the only way to get a permit. When filling out the forms there is a reason box that you must fill in. If you put in there anything but "I often carry at least 500 dollars in cash on my person"...
Well today I finally got my CCW in the mail, but with a catch as I knew there would be. In Iowa the sheriff's can make you jump through all sorts of hoops to get a permit and in my county it is a monetary restriction. In order for my permit to be valid I have to carry at least 500 dollars in...
The B-Square came new in it's original box, so yes it has the iron sights on it still. Once the Ban expires I believe I would like to get a light 16in upper and collapsible stock. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is it common to have several uppers share the same lower?
How long is...
