Reloading .308 Frangible Pulldown in a FAL

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make M-160 pulled 108.5 gr Green/White tips work in an FAL? I'm considering purchasing some from HiTech ($50/1000) and did some research online. Apparantly these are WWII era pulldown made with sintered 50/50 lead bakelite composite. Most of the...

Opinions Requested: Which handgun to keep?

Well thanks for the advice all, I believe I will be keeping the 92 and 22lr kit and depending on where we're all at in november/december I may part with the xd as well. 10k 9mm out the 92 over that past 7 years, I like to think I'm pretty accurate with it by now. FWIW I really like the XD...

Opinions Requested: Which handgun to keep?

I'm concerned with the potential for firearms manufacturers being driven out of the country or out of business altogether by lawsuits in the near future. Does my lifetime warrenty also cover me firing my reloads? nope.

Opinions Requested: Which handgun to keep?

Possum, You're assuming that SA is still in business when/if the frame gets damaged. Thanks for the link. There are apparantly "restricted parts" that SA wont sell, I wonder why.

Opinions Requested: Which handgun to keep?

I'm short on cash to prepare for the coming of "The One". The situation: I own two pistols - XD 45 4" dual tone - Beretta 92FS Inox (all metal) w/ factory 22 LR kit and all of the parts from a stripped police issue 92fs I love shooting the XD, but I'm very concerned about...

What are the chances of ammo coming down in price?

there will never be enough reloaders to affect the prices factories charge. The biggest factor in factory prices is WAR.

    Soft-Points vs. Soft Body Armor...

anybody care to speculate on the post vest penatration of mushroomed softpoint ammo after it cuts the vest? Do you all think hunting ammo (ballistic tip 308 for example) would be more lethal than ball ammo after passing through lvl II or lvl IIIa armor?

What Could You Get With A Thousand Dollars Ammo Wise

You shoot .44 Mag. so reloading is the obvious choice. You should look into acquiring the equipment to cast your own bullets. If you cast your own you'd probably be able to shoot your pistols for $.05-.10/shot depending on powder and where you get the lead. Barter goes both ways, if you have...

Brass question in general and for reloaders?

once fired 9mm varies from $20-40/1000 based on whether it is commercial or military (crimped primers=PITA). I've seen 45 ACP going for up to $65/1000 cleaned once fired... overpriced IMO. ~value is $40/1000. No idea on 30-30, check on gunbroker

What are the chances of ammo coming down in price?

I cashed out on my surplus .308 (about 1000 rounds Port/SA/Aussi)... made ~$500 and reinvested that money into startup reloading gear and essential components (i.e. ~5k primers, 12 lbs mixed powder). I think milsurp has peaked and why would I use a FMJ round for SHTF when I could make better...

    Reloadable Military Surplus .308 Brass

Did you shoot the surp yourself, or find a seller with brass? Given your review I'd be very interested in acquiring some myself... but I am no longer buying surplus ammo at today's prices. Got a lead?

Ammo Ban-->Crack Down on Reloading Tools & Components?

Oh yeah, here we go. Here's a Law Review put together in 1998 that details the difficulties of regulating ammunition and explicitly discusses reloading: http://www.saf.org/LawReviews/Healey1.htm A quote: "There are other practical problems with bringing bullets to Brady. For one, it is...

Ammo Ban-->Crack Down on Reloading Tools & Components?

Well I did some digging, here's a copy of the speech Kerry gave pushing "The Ammunition Safety Act of 1997". While it doesn't pertain to primers, it does shed light on how these sneaky SOBs plan. I apologise for the format. I highlighted anything I thought important. I'll see if I can find...

    Reloadable Military Surplus .308 Brass

I've seen alot of newish, boxer primed 7.62x51mm surplus (Lithuanian) ammo for sale recently, but haven't seen anybody selling the brass. Are people just hoarding this stuff or what? I need some nice once fired .308:o

Ammo Ban-->Crack Down on Reloading Tools & Components?

evan price, Primer scare of '91? I'll have to read up on that, wasn't really "aware" then (I was 9). Eric F, With all do respect, counting on the 2012 congress/administraton to repeal new gun laws or bans is just plain foolish. Even Bush said he'd sign a renewal of the AWB! When was the...

Ammo Ban-->Crack Down on Reloading Tools & Components?

mallc, Not really, I've been in college for four years with little to no resources or space to prepare on the scale you laid out. I don't think we're going to have an economic collapse in the next year... 2-3 years out? Maybe. Then again, my education (process engineer) and skills would...

Ammo Ban-->Crack Down on Reloading Tools & Components?

So its pretty obvious that something is going to go down next year if/when Obama takes over. My suspicion is a backdoor gun ban via ammunition ala Chris Rock's "$5,000 Bullet!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juLQBeZXmPU The only way to enforce this ban IMO would be to regulate primers! Lots...

    Guns of November

I doubt an AWB will pass in the next year, but a backdoor ammo tax sure could! Think about it, how many hunter types would care if their ammo went up to $80 for a box of 30-30? They'd get by as they only shoot half a box a year to begin with. If the cost of .223 goes to $4/shot who could afford...

    Advantages of the FN FAL?

Man I'm glad I bought mine back in 2000, paid $500 for one built by Century Arms Inc, (CAI) on an STG58 kit with an imbel gear logo receiver from J&G Sales in AZ. Had to have it reheadspaced and parked by the best fal smith in the country I might add, Arizona Response Systems for another $200...
