    Daniel Boone's Rifle?

Family fantasy rumor has it that Daniel owned/traded some rifles of my ancestors. I've never seen an authentic Bean Rifle that I know of.. One day when I retire, I will go back to Bean Station and do some family history..

Open carry in Texas 'much ado about nothing,' despite doomsayers' predictions

Several going up in our area of Texas.. talking with some of the managers of the stores, they are under the impression that this is a new law and they have to post both signs. Seems that there are a couple of Texas Legislators that are offering the signs at a discount rate for their...

Where do you keep record of your firearm inventory?

I use Reportit for civilians from LEADS Online. https://reportit.leadsonline.com/ allows me to update, store info on the item (not just guns) and record serial numbers, model numbers and upload pics of the item in case they are stolen, or lost in a fire.

During it's March 27, 2014 meeting, the Texas Parks and Wildlife made several recommendations on changes for the upcoming hunting season in Texas.. One thing to note, Texas has finally understood that today's air guns are not their childhood Red Rider...

    Bullhide belts dot com??

Same company as: http://www.daltechforce.com/ I've got one of their dual layer belts .. initially it was very stiff, but after a year of wearing, it's basically a thick leather belt. There isn't any wear to it to speak of, some scratching caused by the metal clip... If I had it to do...

    Rough out bow ?

A few months ago, to a year ago, I vaguely remember a web site that sold unfinished bows. Seems like the owner was a Veteran, he made self bow/long bow up to 62" very affordable. You could shoot it as is, or complete the staining and sealing.. Seems like the web site was...

Could it be? (Texas to allow switchblades)

Morning hso, Sorry about that, the above court cases set for the definition of "bowie" knife in the Texas courts. The case law for a bowie knife refers back to Mireles v State, when actually the first case was Hernandez v State in 1893. These were just the original case law and how they...

Could it be? (Texas to allow switchblades)

I've got the LexisNexis print outs of the original case and the re-hearing. Along with the Hernandez v State in June 1893. It leads a very bumpy path from an assault with a "bowie" knife, that was later determined to be a 'butcher' knife. Then to the 1917 case of Mireles v The...

Could it be? (Texas to allow switchblades)

There is case law on the definitions in Texas.. as usual, in different places.. “Illegal Knife” means a: (A) knife with a blade over five and one half inches; Rainer v. State, 763 S.W.2d 615 (Tex. App.-Eastland 1989, pet. ref’d) To determine length, measure entire length of blade past...

    Wrap Test #8: Hillbilly faux-carta

One of the guys over on the 1911 forum had a thread a couple of years ago where he was forming his own micarta using different colors of denim.. they were clamped between sheets of plastic wrap and 1x4's to dry. Always wanted to try that as a knife handle, and now I've lived it vicariously...

    Mailing a black powder revolver

I'm pretty sure you can since I got 3 of mine by the USPS. A black powder gun isn't a "firearm" by Federal definition. Ruger should provide you a label to send it back. Rule 12.1.1 should tell you: http://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2011/pb22321/html/updt_001.htm

Could it be? (Texas to allow switchblades)

Looks that Texas may finally start catching up with the civilized world.. HB 1862 is off to the Gov to sign, removes the switchblade from the list of prohibited weapons. :D http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/BillStages.aspx?LegSess=83R&Bill=HB1862 Now, 2015, let's get the bowie...
