    Glock 20 for grizzlies?

Every video I've seen of a charging or running bear shows the animal bouncing around, slewing left and right, and with its head going up and down. I wonder how many times I could hit it in a vital location under stress. Many years ago, as a town cop, I had to shoot a large, vicious German...

Older High Standard Pistols and High Velocity Ammo

As far as I know, the only High Standards reported to have cracked frames allegedly due to the use of HV ammo are the 100-series right up to the present time. The older models, like the H-D Military and the like, apparently do not have the problem. Tim

    H&R SPORTSMAN Research

Jim-- I am going to go out to the range next week and try to duplicate the 20 yard 1 1/2" group standard that H&R required of the 199. I'll use various brands of standard velocity ammunition and give a full report. Wish me luck! Tim

    Most powerful Glock?

Has anyone considered matching the gun to its intended purpose? I have seen a video of a charging grizzly--very fast and scary. Mountain lions--even more so. Feral dogs travel in packs. Point being, I bet if I shot at any of these critters under that kind of pressure, I'd miss more...

So...just when is it acceptable to pull your gun?

Should you pull your gun? A friend of mine is in trouble (menacing 2nd, possession of a weapon) for pulling a gun on a guy in the situation described by quick draw mcgraw. The road-rager exited his truck after stopping in the middle of the lane, and came back at my pal, swearing and swinging...

Had to Give Up the Hogues. Wanna Know Why?

Hogues Same problem--wrong stirrup. If you modify the wrong one and use a longer screw, you run the risk of driving the screw right into the butt of the gun, marring it. I e-mailed Hogue and never got an answer. The grips are in my desk drawer now, probably forever. Tim
