point of impact issue with revolver driving me crazy

Finally got it worked out. I was able to meet the two most important component criterias. Those being Trailboss and 158 lswc. (Got a lot of those components.) Did have to substitute .38 Special cases. (I've got way more .357 brass.) End result is dead on windage and about 1" high at 25...

point of impact issue with revolver driving me crazy

I've got a SP101 with 3" barrel that shoots on at 25 yards with Federal .38 158gr LRN factory ammo. I'd like to duplicate that load to save money but with .357 cases because I have a ton of them. The Federal .38 factory load averages about 680 fps out of my 3" barrel. My reload is .357 cases...

Love and Hate; The Kel-Tec P32

I have fired the P32, P3AT, and the P11. To summarize my thoughts with comparisons made relative to the P3AT: P11 Advantage: 9mm round, higher mag capacity Disadvantage: A little large for a pocket gun. P3AT is a good bit smaller. P3AT Advantage: Super concealable, The most powerful of...

    Which SP101 - poll

I currently have a 3" and have owned a 2" in the past. I prefer the 3". It has a better feel to it for me and the tiny bit of extra length doesn't seem to make it less concealable for me.

    CCW Draw stories

I posted the following a long time ago. It isn't much of a story. However, it was the best outcome possible. (No shots fired.) The story really doesn't do justice to the "aggression" the guy was displaying. The original story: Thought I was about to get carjacked...

Carrying a handgun cocked or uncocked

My 1911 is always carried cocked and locked. It is the SAFEST way to carry a 1911.

interesting find with metal detector (gun related)

I was metal detecting this morning and found a couple interesting things. The first item was the left hammer from a percussion shotgun. It fell apart during cleaning because it was so rusty. A couple feet from the hammer, I found the following: It is a 2.5" grip broken from either a...

Anyone a member of your State Guard?

I used to be in the Texas State Guard. I enjoyed it. State Guards are real military organizations but generally aren't run or funded very well and aren't very "military" in actual function. The physical standards, etc. are very low. Having said that, I'm glad that I did it.

    .22 Weapon for CCDW

I wouldn't go out and buy a .22 for defense, unless I had physical problems that prevented my using a large caliber. However, if a .22 was all I had, I wouldn't have a problem with carrying it.

Do you use a patch in your revolver?

I like to charge each chamber, follow up with a filler material like "cream of wheat" and then seat the ball. Being a little cautious, I then grease over each ball as well. Having said that, a lot of people like to use the "wonder wad" type wads between the powder and ball. Oldtimers often...

    357 shooting high

As Archie said, slower bullets will hit higher. It can have a pretty dramatic effect. I used to have an 8" barreled Dan Wesson that shot dead on with normal loads but shot about 8" high at 10 yards with low velocity wadcutters. The problem is caused by the recoil impulse starting before the...

    Need help/input on ankle carry

I used to wear an ankle holster a lot, but I switch to pocket carry for ease of carry and speed. However, back in the days that I did ankle carry, I wore cowboy or other pull on boots. Just the thing for here in Texas. The upside is that you can carry a big gun. The downside is that access...

Looking for a Skeeter Skelton revolver photo

I've been trying to find a photo on the net of a single action revolver that Skeeter Skelton used. I don't remember if it was a Ruger or a Colt but it had a Python type vent rib and I think a dove-tailed front sight. I might be wrong about the sight. I saw it in a TV interview with his son...

    Marlin for defense?

I can top off my Winchester 94 without any trouble. I've done it a lot of times. Standard hunting type .30/30 loads are more effective than a standard military AK-47 round. Win 94's and Marlin's are at least as accurate as an AK. I believe that a 30/30 would be just fine for defense and very...

    crazy rottweiler people

My sister-in-law killed a rottweiler this last weekend. It came over and attacked her animals. She put 16 rounds into it before it went down. Although, the only thing that she had with her at the time was a .22 revolver. She had to reload several times.
