I purchased a Cap and ball 44 from Cabellas. In all that I have read, I should use fffg and about 30 grains so I bought a CVA brass flask with a 30 grain spout. I also purchased Pyrodex pistol powder. Just for kicks, I weighed the load in the spout and it wasn't even close to 30 grains...
I see that they have powder "pellets" for pistols. I see from Cabella's they have 44 cal pellets but I may be getting a 36 cal. So, 1) are the pellets easier to use and 2) where can I get 36 cal. pellets?
Looking to buy a new black powder pistol. Trying to decide 44 cal vrs 36 cal. The 36 cal has a shorter barrel and seems lighter. But of course there is the greater power of the 44 cal. And eventually, I will convert to cartridge cylinder. Any advise?
