    Speer Bullets and Lee Dies

Hi all, Well I received my box of reloading equipment - sans the primers (on backorder). Since I am just getting started here, I went with the Lee Challenger Breach Lock Press and Lee dies. I had also ordered Speer bullets in .223. While reading the instructions for the .223 die set, I see a...

Remington Primers vs Winchester vs CCI vs Federal

Newbie here. Are the different manufacturer primers interchangeable? If the recipe calls for CCI can I use the Winchester? Thanks.

    Interchanging Small Rifle Primers

OK - I'm getting into the metallic reloading realm. I know, I know...bad time to do so; however, the cost and scarcity of ammo is not going to go decrease anytime soon (at least not in the next 4 years and here's hoping it is ONLY 4 years!!!) Anyway, I was wondering if it is OK to...

    Creasing Shotshells During Crimping Stage

Thanks NCSmitty and Jinxer. Yep, 7/8 oz. Thanks for the link to the LEE site. Maybe I am being too gentle with the wad seating pressure. I'll start there. If that doesn't do it, then I'll try the Rem hulls and RXP wads. Thanks again guys. Scott

    Creasing Shotshells During Crimping Stage

NCSmitty, yes 2.75 inches, yes full stroke (but not "slamming" down). As far as I know I am using the correct wads. They are the Claybuster WAA20 replacement wads that are called for by the "recipe". I am at school at the moment, but will post a picture as soon as I can. Thanks. Scott

    Creasing Shotshells During Crimping Stage

Well, I finally got all my components and loaded my first 50 shells yesterday using my Lee LoadAll II. For the most part it works pretty well, once you learn a couple of tricks - the first one is to not knock over the shell that you just loaded with shot while moving it to the pre-crimp...

Using Overshot Cards or Shot Filler Wads

rg1, Thanks for the info. Those are the exact components I am using - so I guess I'll just squirrel away the cards and filler wads. Thanks again. Scott

Using Overshot Cards or Shot Filler Wads

I have a Lee LoadAll II. I have finally gathered all the components and am ready to reload my first 20 ga. shells. While researching and trying to find a retailer that wasn't out of stock on everything I needed, I came across overshot cards and fiber shot filler. I thought it would be a good...

Waa20F1 Substitutes Thanks RC. Guess I'll just keep hunting for the right components. Scott

    Shotshell Wad and Primer Differences

Shotshell and Primer Differences II Well, I did a little more poking around in this forum and found that indeed, the wads and components are NOT interchangeble. I still question whether the WAA20 wad is meant to be a replacement for the WAA20F1. Anyone know? Thanks.

    Shotshell Wad and Primer Differences

Hello all, I am new to this reloading game. I have read everywhere to NOT deviate from a particular formula. If the formula calls for WAA20F1 (which is no longer available), can the WAA20 be used instead? The same question goes for the primers - what is the difference between the...

New to reloading and have a question about wads.

WAA20 vs. WAA20F1 - WIN209 vs CCI209 vs FED209 Hello all, I am new to this reloading game. I have read everywhere to NOT deviate from a particular formula. If the formula calls for WAA20F1 (which is no longer available), can the WAA20 be used instead. The same question goes for the...
