Speer Bullets and Lee Dies

Hi all,
Well I received my box of reloading equipment - sans the primers (on backorder). Since I am just getting started here, I went with the Lee Challenger Breach Lock Press and Lee dies. I had also ordered Speer bullets in .223. While reading the instructions for the .223 die set, I see a little box in the bottom corner that says "Speer recommends not using Speer bullets in certain Lee dies."

Has anyone had any problems with Speer bullets in Lee dies? If so, what's the deal?

Speer says not to use the "Factory Crimp Die" on Speer bullets, said it would damage their accuracy potential. I've tried it with different calibers and couldn't verify Speers claim, but then, I can't shoot for sour owl s**t anyway.

Forget it. 25 or so years ago, Blount holding company owned Speer, CCI and RCBS. Lee was just coming on stronger, year by year so Blount started a series of add campaigns telling people not to use their bullets with Lee's Factory Crimp dies. They put a photo of a badly crimped bullet from a badly misused FCD to "prove" their point. Most of us knew it was a farce at the time so it really damaged Blounts holdings. They lost so much business Blount finally sold them and quietly went away, leaving a trail of trash behind them. All three companies seem to have recovered well.

I suppose Lee is simply still using the instruction sheets they published during that childish snit game.
