Most Reliable Semi-Auto .22 Magnum Rifle

yeah, .22 magnum is different case size, an extra thousandth or two, so the different length isn't the only problem.. need two chambers to fire two different rounds... you can see the case rim is outside the bullet on the WMR and even with the bullet on the .22LR.. firing .22LR rounds in a...

    .22lr vs .22wmr revolvers

I've looked up every data reference I can find regarding my 4" barreled Taurus .22 mag revolver, and best I can figure, I can launch a jacketed hollow point at somewhere around 1400 fps. For self defense, that means a supersonic impact and very good penetration in the target... bullet's small...

    What ammo shortage??

I got lucky today, showed up at BassPro in Irving at opening time on a day when the ammo shipment arrived. It only comes every couple of weeks, and is usually sold out in a couple of hours. I got three boxes .38 and three 9mm... felt guilty trying for more, but I am building up a pretty good...

    Best .22 Mag Revolver?

one more vote for TOO HARD TO PULL THE TRIGGER on a .22 mag revolver... my Taurus is a brute in double action... sweet in single but then you have to pull that hammer back, which is JUST as brutal as pulling DA... I don't mind these things at all.. I'm a big strong guy, it's kind of...

    Looking for a .22 revolver

There's always a good Taurus Model 94, nine shots of .22LR, you can get it in ultralite snubbie or in standard steel with various barrels.. I have the model 941, which is the .22 Magnum, with 4" barrel, good compromise between a trail gun and SD... shoots straight, although the DA pull is...

    Smith J-Frame Laser Grips

is the beam adjustable for distance, the crossing point of the beam and the bullet? I can't see any way to do it in the pix, is why I"m askin... :-) My wife has a J Frame 317 snubbie, .22 LR, wants these on it.. expensive I see... but are they adjustable...?

    Burned Buying Taurus M94

I have heard the ultralite models have this lite strike problem.. but the standard weight ones don't. I bought the .22 magnum revolver, M941, a few months back, and it hasn''t failed to fire on me yet. I got the heavy steel, 4" barrel, not the superlite... and the trigger pull from double...

    Why Not 22 Mag.?

this whole thread makes me wonder... now that Taurus makes this gun (and sells plenty, btw) will some ammo company make this cartridge in a faster burning powder? and is there any difference in that area between one manuf. and another? What might be the best .22 mag round for a revolver? I...

What in the hell is a "stovepipe"!?

Atlantic Fire, you left out Abe Lincoln's hat. That makes three choices. :-)

P22 update -- tale of interest

Well, once I saw that p22 bible and knew what to look for, I realized right away that the trigger ears were knocking great chunks of zinc alloy out of the slide... I could see clearly they were too sharp.. and I knew I had to polish them down or the whole thing was going to crack the slide...

P22 update -- tale of interest

I actually expect it WILL work for years, but I have somewhat different habits than most people when it comes to gadgets. I like to pull stuff apart and see how it works. It is flawed, as most guns are. Nothing, especially an autoloader, is perfect. But this one is fairly simple and its...

P22 update -- tale of interest

I addressed my weak trigger spring today. Took down the gun, punched out the pin in the trigger, dropped out the spring and gave it a mild flex outward, a bit past 180 deg. it rested at about 180, and I replaced it and put the gun back together. works great! If you take down the...

    walther P22 tale of interest

Gunny, I have found the motherlode of info on this, courtesy of a member at Rimfire Central, and he tells me when you take down the gun, you almost always overwind the trigger return spring just by handling it. Gotta take it down one more time, push the pin through the trigger, get the spring...

    22 mag or 32 acp

I have the Taurus 941 (4" barrel, steel, not the best concealment gun but just for reference) and I can tell you the report is right up there with my .38 sp. It makes a heck of a noise, way more than the little 40 grain .22 bullet deserves.. :-) and it bucks pretty good too.. but I suspect...

    walther P22 tale of interest

yeah, the thing seems to come down to one possibility-- the trigger return spring, the one that both pushes the trigger forward after firing AND lifts that trigger bar UP to engage the hammer arm notch so you can pull the trigger from DA and the hammer will go back-- that trigger return spring...

just picked up new Taurus 941

My wife can't pull the DA at all on this gun. Lucky for her I got her an S&W 317 with a very much lighter smoother pull. I think the price gets you the quality in terms of smoothness and balance.... and Taurus being cheaper, it's not quite so well engineered.. but that's okay with me! I can...

    walther P22 tale of interest

I've put a thousand or so rounds thru the P22 and read the "P22 Bible" then looked at the gun to see if it wears where the document says it does. It does. Most of the repairs were too much for me, tool-wise, but I knew I could polish and round the 'trigger bar ears' to cut down on the chunky...

    22LR in a 22Mag cylinder?

I micrometered the two today, .22 LR case is more or less .22, and magnum case is more or less .24.. that's 20/1000ths difference, no wonder the little cases split in the big cylinder. Bad idea.

    gunsmithing?

mighty nice of you.. :-) I tore it down and buffed the sharp edges of the ears on the trigger 'frame', the cause of the choppy wear on the slide rails.. I'm not ready to try any of the other stuff... it was very interesting to pull it down to bits, to replace the springs and put all the parts...
