Carbide is carbide, there are different grades but that leans more toward the machining characteristics and shock resistances of the carbide not the hardness. All the titanium nitride and other "special" carbides are just carbide with a coating on it. The coatings were originally made for...
I wouldn't necessarily say the throat is shorter but it sounds like the rifling starts sooner then your previous barrel. On another note 1.22" is longer then the max saami length of 1.169". I think seating your OAL to 1.150" will fix your problem. You can also pull the barrel out of your XD and...
I agree with the rest, looks like your case is pushing your powder drop rotor all the way to the top and bottoming it out. There is a slight angle on the face of the powder drop insert to move the case mouth to the center and this is rolling the case mouth inward. Correct asap, this isn't good...
It seems to me that the V-Block isn't centered with the shell holder opening. Is this right or am i not seeing this correct in the picture because the shell is tipped?
Just a quick review of there warranty and service dept. I received my Hornady LNL AP about 2 months ago, I had about 500 pre-primed 9mm cases so I wasn't using the on press priming. Once I loaded those 500 cases up, I started priming on the press but couldn't figure out what primer slide was for...
I feel the same as most do in this thread about titegroup instead of ww231. Works from the tiny .380 all the way up to 44 mag or 45 colt. Burns clean to boot.
I stated earlier in the thread that i had no problems with 9mm on my LNL AP, but once i received my 357 shell plate that's when i had station 5 problems. I machined the base as pictured and it worked out perfectly. Thanks Walkalong!
Interesting, I received my new LnL AP a week or so ago and have made 500 rounds of 9mm without a flaw. I wonder why the upgrade units have this problem. Nice work btw!
Just received mine from Midsouth today. I was shocked to see it shipped in the Hornady box only with a shipping label slapped on there but it arrived in good condition and life is well! :)
I load berry's 115gr FN to a OAL of 1.08". That was the longest I could go before the bullet started touching the lands.
My suggestion is pull the barrel in your 9mm and make a dummy round up at 1.13" and do a chamber drop test. Then decrease your OAL by .010" until the back of the case sits...
I never understood why loads are worked up from OAL. I understand it from a you can't be to long or it will lock up the cylinder or wont fit in the mag, but what really matters is how far the base of the bullet is seated into the case. I guess its just because we have no way to accurately...
Bird shot whether #2,4,5 or 6 is just what the name implies bird shot. Ill take a 45 colt in all chambers. Hollow point please.
I couldn't imagine telling everyone that the attacker I just shot tried to attack me with i knife so I ground swatted him with a pheasant load.
