    .30 M1 Carbine

M1 Carbine Intelligent Info Currently sequestered at work. You folks seem knowledgeable of the M1 Carbine. I have a Plainfield Machine carbine with, what I believe to be, standard military aperture sights. I do not have accurate measurement of sight above bore. I am thinking somewhere...

    Springfield M1A Steel Case Ammo?

M1A Steel Case Ammo I took a look at AIM Surplus offerings. The German ammo was very impressive. I do like the nickel coated projectile. Thanks for that one. Added that site to my favorites. I too am a CTD customer. Thanks again for all the input. I am currently toying with a 1927A1...

    Where are all the M1A's?

Where are all the M1A's They are out there but you can figure on $1500.00 + or - a few bucks for a standard Springfield. You can find them in wood or synthetic. I will be purchasing one soon. Probably going with the synthetic camo. I am curious to know if they will cycle the steel case...

    Springfield M1A Steel Case Ammo?

Does anyone know if the Sprgfld M1A accepts steel case ammo? I will be purchasing a M1A very soon and wish to stock on ammo, possibly Silver Bear if the weapon does OK with it. I realize steel is not as healthy as brass but we all eat the things that are not good for us. Thanks in advance for...

    742 Woodsmaster - Now what?

742 Woodsmaster I have a 742 Carbine that I bought in 1988 for $135.00, half a case of beer and two dressed racoons. In the 22 years I have hunted with this rifle, I have not had a single malfunction. I have harvested somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 whitetail deer with the rifle. I live...

Which would you prefer in a pinch, M1 Carbine or the SKS Paratrooper.

What would you do in a pinch The AK I own is US manufactured by Vector Arms, married to a Russian barrel/parts kit. I consider it American made. And yes. I shoot foriegn ammunition.Have made kill shots with both the .30 Carbine and the 7.62X39mm. Prefer the terminal ballistics of the...

    M1 Carbine

Thanks guys. I am not familiar with the carbine but figured there had to be a way to lock the bolt open. Co worker just got his hands on the IBM model. He thought I might know. I knew I could get help here. Thanks again.

Which would you prefer in a pinch, M1 Carbine or the SKS Paratrooper.

Which would you prefer in a pinch Given the choices I would choose the M1 Carbine. My preference would be an AK47. Just beats the carbine in all categories. Carbine is sweet for what it was designed for; a replacement for the sidearm of support troops. It did perform well on the battle...

    Best commercial 7.62x39 round

    Remington 760/.243 Win

I think Remington only produced the 760 in .243 beginning in 1968. I have not seen the rifle yet so I am unsure of date of manufacture. Knowing the individual who owns it, I would say it is in excellent condition probably still in the original box.

    Best commercial 7.62x39 round

Mike, I have fired most manufacturers cartridges in 7.62x39. I have a Vector Arms Classic AK-47. The ammo all grouped very similar with the standard rifle. I managed to cut my groupings by 50% by changing out the slant style flash supressor and going with the bridcage(AR-15) style. All...

Whats the best route out of my choices for a first rifle.

Somewhere in Idaho If I was about to buy my first rifle and lived in Idaho, I would lean toward the Remington Auto Loader in .30-06 caliber. On your $1500.00 budget, I believe you can outfit a Remington Model 7400 with good optics and accessories. The .30-06 caliber is still recognized as the...

    Remington 760/.243 Win

I have possible opportunity to purchase the aforementioned rifle from a co-worker. I have my thoughts of value for this rifle, but wanted to check around on average value. Weapon is in excellent shape, fired less than 20 times. Don't want to take advantage or overpay either. Thanks in...

AK-47 How to make it more accurate?

I own a Vector Arms AK-47 that I have harvested several good deer with the last 2 years. I got better accuracy from this rifle by changing the "slant" type muzzle brake and going with the "birdcage" type common to the M16A1. It made a big difference in my shot groupings. (Half inch 3-shot...

    Buffalo Bore .45-70 Magnum Ammo

Has anyone had experience with this ammo? I have a twix in to Knight to see if the KP-1 Wurrflein will handle the 28,000 psi chamber pressures from the 300 grain ammo. They list gun models on the ammo box but the Knight may have come after the ammo.

Kahr Thompson - Worth having for fun, nostalgia, historical factor?

A Piece of History I purchased a 1927A1 Deluxe package last year from a local dealer. Paid 14 c notes for it, but it was worth it to me. I absolutely love the machine. I opted for the steel receiver due to volume of fire I knew it would endure. I don't particularly care for the alloy...
