    Finnish M39 w/ pre 1898 rcvr

The old hex recievers were actually stronger than the later round recievers, at least the Finn's thought so. That, I would guess, is because they are heavier than the round ones. I would surmise that there was more steel used in the hex recievers. I was lucky enough to buy a "B" barrel from...

Any .308 Saiga owners in Western Ark or Eastern Ok?

Hillbilly, I too am not near you[central Ok], but I can tell you that both the short and long barrel Saiga 308's are very fine shooters. I had a 16 " barrel, but traded it off. Regrets on that. I currently have a 22" barrel/wood stock. It is stock except for a 6x42 PSOP scope. I get 1" or...

    Old revolver

Iver Johnson began as a company named Johnson & Bye. Bye sold his interest to Johnson in 1883. It was then called Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle works. They made cheap guns, bicycles and roller skates. I believe you have a 38 S&W revolver. They made both hammer and hammerless models. This is...

found a rifle... need history check

My Dad bought one in the early 1950's and it accounted for many Utah mule deer. These were very well made guns . Both inexpensive and durable, and being magazine fed could shoot pointed bullets safely. You sir, have aquired a fine rifle.

    Stiff Mosin Bolt

The easy way to get the bolt to open on a fired case is to reach back to the cocking piece and pull back until it is cocked. Then you should be able to open the bolt with less effort. In time a lot of shooting will loosen up the headspace a little and then it will open with out the need to cock...

    Need Recoil Pad...Which One???

I have reached the 70 year old mark and I use a Winchester Pro-Mag, which you can wear on either shoulder[ambidextrous]. I find it handier when I take several rifles to the range, don't have to worry with one or more slip on pads. According to their packageing the following is felt recoil for a...

    Tracer Stories

I believe the reason Hornady quit making "Vector" ammo was because the supplier of magnesium rods went out of buisness or stopped making them. I still have one box of 50 in 9mm, one box of 20 in 45ACP, part of a box of 40S&W. I use them sparingly!
