At ten yards my gun throws what I think is a good pattern.

Using Winchester 00 buck (regular gray box stuff) I fired a bunch of single shots at target, and largest spread was 8".

Then I fired three rounds at one target. Same 8" spread, and exactly 2/3rds (18 pellets) were inside 6".

I think this is good for any HD need. Am I mistaken?

It'll do fine. But,have you tried patterning at the longest distance possible in your domicile?

My SWEG, it should go into 15" at the longest possible shot opp.

Dave, I thought about that when I got home.

I paced off 13 yards from laundry room, down short hall, thru kitchen, to odd corner in living room. Given layout of house, I doubt I'd engage somebody from either end of that particular line of sight. Both ends offer good escape and/or barricade/cover options. Not much use fighting over the middle ground.

All other conceivable shots are 10 yards or much less.

My biggest worry (I don't lay asleep thinking about it) in any home emergency is that my wife and I are on first floor, and kids are upstairs. Not real keen on the split.

Guess that's why the canine alarm system sleeps on the kids bedroom floor.

Sounds like you have it covered, 45Badger.
I'd rather have the kids one floor past me and WW, more protection for them.
