Irrefutable proof that gun control is working.

Irrefutable proof that the vast majority of gun owners are respectable people, and not the irresponsible idiots the Government, and the liberals want the majority of non-gun owners to believe we are.

So, written another way, since the NFA, GCA, and other gun control legislation has been implemented, beginning in the 1930's, the annual number of accidental firearms deaths has decreased by 75%.

That whole correlation/causation thing goes both ways, you know.

If the number of guns had gone down correspondingly to the time since he GCA, then someone might make the argument that it is the casue of these lower rates, but since the number of guns has gone up 500%, it points more to education and gun safety for the good results.

Wow... bikes and tricycles are more deadly than guns... We better start that big wheel licensing agenda we have always talked about.

I think that any given household is actually less likely to own firearms than in the 30's, most of those extra sales have gone to people who already own them. This, combined with safety rules, have probably led to that decrease.

Down x percent still isn't zero

Sadly, it is not likely that it will ever be down to zero. In 10,000 years of organized civilization, we still have not been able to breed the stupid gene out of the pool. Maybe Darwin was wrong...???

I suppose you could put it that way. Or you could phrase it like this, "Despite the concerns of various fringe groups about the effects of various gun-related legislation on gun ownership, it appears that such legislation has not affected the ability of the average citizen to own firearms. In fact, these laws have allowed for increased firearms ownership with a decrease in fatalities." Not that I actually believe that, but the evidence you provided could go either way.

What's missing from the assumption this is related to gun education programs is any indication of whether those have increased.

Darwin is right, we've just found a way to evade natural selection in modern society.
Not at all. The only requirement to be successful is to produce lots of offspring that produce lots of offspring and so on.

The traits we find admirable in our society may not correlate with those which produce a large number of offspring.

Well Put.

Second that... for some reason, I am thinking of the film "Idocracy" right now.

...

But, the anti-people are not against the big wheel they are out to get our guns and doing a good job. I just bought a 100 rounds of 40 cal at Wal Mart @ 18.95 per 50 round box that is up 6 bucks from two weeks ago and up $28 per 100 from 2002. It is time for the Obamanation to go down the road. The civil unrest will start in mid summer.
