Well, I finally managed to successfuly remove most of the copper that had been plaguing the bore of my Remington Xr-100.

After many failed attempts at using Hoppe's Bore Solvent, Hoppe's 9 Benchrest supposed copper remover), and regular old BreakFree CLP, the copper finally gave out and was removed this evening with the help of the BF CR.

At first I didn't have too good of hope due to the lack of success with the Hoppe's BR. But after putting that foam down the barrel then scrubbing it out the first time, things started to look brighter.

Now all that is left is some very light streaks of copper; this possibly may just be signs of normal wear from shooting the 22-250.

Another plus for this product is the fact that it is non toxic (contains no ammonia?), unlike most of the other copper removing products out there. I also like the foaming action, seems like it reaches everywhere.

I found this at the Sportsmans Warehouse (last bottle).

If you have the chance be SURE to buy, you definitly will not regret it.

I've experimented with a lot of different copper solvents. My favorite by a landslide, is Butch's Bore Shine. It works the fastest and doesn't require many patches up and down the barrel. I picked up a large bottle at Cabela's the last time I was there. It should last me a long time.

I don't have any experience with the 50BMG. I may have to give that a try if I ever run out of Butch's.

I've had to clean up a couple of REALLY coppered up rifles and found Barnes CR-10 and Sweet's 7.62 to be awesome. Butch's is good for a quick range clean-up, but doesn't do what these others can do.

I do want to try the Montana X-treme someday as I've heard a lot of good about it.

I guess I've never really considered that. I never let my rifles get bad before cleaning them anyway. A couple hundred rounds in a day is the most I've shot through any rifle of mine and Butch's makes quick work of that. But I suppose if you've got one really fouled up, then it might not work as good.

Every time I scan the main page, I see this title and my brain reads "Coffee Break Remover"...

Maybe I should take a break from the coffee. Or stop putting CLP in it?
