+1 on a GLOCK

Well I asked you first so answering a question with a question is actually dodging the question.

Just seems like getting gas for your car but stopping 5 gallons short of filling up. Or ordering a dozen doughnuts and only asking for 11. Seems a bit limiting.

I was just wondering if there was a good reason not to top off your magazines and going +1.

Well then.

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed more than X amount of bullets and one more would have been just the right amount?

Not talking about games or longer intervals between loadings of mags at the range.

If you answer no, then my question of why stands. If you have had your hide saved or saved the hide of another because that last +1 round saved the day, fill me in.

Wow... this is amazing!...

Ive done it "The wrong way" for so long and so many rounds with all sorts of guns. Im gonna go buy a lottery ticket because i have never had a problem. hahahahaha

To go +1 on a firearm I usually fill the magazine to capacity. I then insert a round into the chamber, close the slide, then insert full magazine.

Easy.

On Glocks (especially 9mm G17) the mag hols 17 rounds. What can I do with 18 rounds that I cannot do with 17 rounds?

My LCP holds 6 in the mag and +1 is actually useful with the limited ammo capacity of the small .380s.

Shoot one more round of ammunition without reloading I guess. :D

So I guess your not going to answer the question thus you have no real good reason to not have your mags fully loaded. So for example a glock 17 lets say is a 16+1 for you but most everyone else including most cops its a 17+1.

I guess you don't buy like extended mags or +2 extensions.

I guess that's your choice and you must have some reason. Even if it has no real basis.

My reaxon is there is no reason to top off. My G37 with 10 rounds is more than plenty. My XD9 has enough with 16. I just load and go. No extra step needed.

Thats 30% more ammo than a 1911 in my main carry gun so one upping will still have less rounds in the 1911 than my choice of carry gun. The XD that I carry sometimes has twice the capacity of a 1911 with one of them newfangled 8 round mags. Since the 1911 is the banchmark of all pistols, as long as I have more ammo onboard than the old time proven 1911, I am all good.

Just because a gun can be one upped does not mean it has to be. I guess you could call that a reason.

I really have no reason,

Of course it works, there's no reason for it not to. It's not recommended and it can damage a Glock's extractor. If you're comfortable with that then have it.

I load an extra round in my G36(with +1 mag extension) and my G19.

Guess just 'cause I always have..........................always will.

I think, "Why NOT?" is the better question.

-But,...I won't waste any time Dueling about it. ;)

An even better question is why so many get fired up over a technique that will keep a Glock extractor damage free when loading without a magazine??

Honestly, if I was in a situation where I had to load one at a time without the mag, I'm sure I would just drop the slide on the round inserted in the chamber.

I only top-off to have as many rounds in the gun as possible.
