Ok here is the deal, I'm looking for a good source of aftermarket 10/22 magazines. I have found the MWG 50 round magazines and the Butler Creek steel lips magazines at Copes Distributing but I would prefer for them not to be clear. Does anyone else know of any other good sources for these? Plus where is the MWG website? I've searched but I cannot find it.

Well, they do offer them in a "smoked" color. If you don't want them to be see-through, the best solution I can think of would be to just spray paint whatever mags you buy. I've done a fair amount of looking for 10/22 parts and haven't seen any aftermarket mags that weren't translucent.

Get the Butler Creek Steel Lips mags and just paint them. I had a 10 rounder that was clear. I put a strip of tape about 1/4" wide down one side of the mag, then spray painted the part that sticks out of the rifle. The result was a black mag with a little viewing window where I could see how many rounds were in it.
I think the Butler Creeks works best of all aftermarket mags, the steel lips are better because the Hot Lips' plastic lips wear out quicker.
Even though I think they're the best aftermarket mags, they still don't feed as well as the factory rotary mags when used with a match chamber and no other aftermarket mag can fit 10 rounds into such a small package.

Ramline makes a black 30 rounder that is a little smaller than BC's 25 rounder, and will double up like the BCs. I have two of the ramlines, and two of the BCs. I like the BCs better (mostly because they ARE clear, or one is half clear, half smoke, one is all clear). My BCs aren't the steel lips, though, they are plastic.

How reliable are your Ramlines Roland? I always wondered about the double stack .22 mags in general. The steel lips kinda got me sold I think but I would be interested to hear your opinion. Thanks for all of your replies!

My 10/22 doesn't seem to like Butler Creek magazines. When I load them up, they tend to fall out of the gun. Ramline worked fine except for the fact that I don't own any.

I set my butler creek magazines up and used them for 9mm target practice. They kinda explode when you hit them with a 124 grain 9mm bullet.

My Butler Creek Steel Lip has gotten five or six failures to feed. I noticed when loading that sometimes, after pushing a round in, it takes a bit of a shake to get it up. I'm guessing this was happening in the gun, preventing the next round from getting up to where it can be scooped out. I'll qualify this by saying that it was a pretty chilly day, it was the first time trying the mag, and of the three or four times I loaded it up, it got better each time. I've yet to get my hands on more mags to test them though.

Something I'd consider is BC's mag loader. Mine missfed the one time I tried it, not always loading the round. I've yet to trouble shoot it, mostly because my 10/22 is getting new sights, and it doesn't make sense to unload the magazine just to load it again. I plan on reporting on it when I can though. It seemed to work well with the rotary mags too.

The Ramlines had a kind of break in period where they were sketchy, maybe the first hundred rounds thru each. They'd want to hang up and not feed, and I'd just get a dry fire until I jarred the magazine enough to make them un-hang. After they had a little wear though, they work great. I had them up for sale in my little circle of shooters, but I have decided to keep them now. BTW, the BC magazine I bought new also had a little break in period. The one I bought used during the AWB (for $60 :cuss: ) never had this issue. I assume the previous owner did it for me.

When I load them up, they tend to fall out of the gun.

I would be willing to bet you loaded 26 rounds in a 25 rd clip, then tried to put them in the gun with the bolt closed. That won't work, but, they latch perfectly fully loaded with the bolt locked open.

The Ram-Lines are my favorite. I bought them new in 92 and another used in 98 and have never had a problem. I have had Butler Creek mess up. The spring hung up about halfway down and all the rounds just fell out.
