I took my 10/22 apart for detailed cleaning like I've done before. Never had a problem with this before.

I took the bolt and the trigger guard out. On reassembling them the bolt is getting stuck against something in the trigger guard. I'm sure I moved something or ??? Also the safety appears to be loose and not have a positive stop to it. I didn't take anything apart so I'm wondering what went wrong.

It feels like the bolt is being stopped by the trigger guard.

Anyone know what this is?

Thanks for your help.

Can you cock the hammer? Check to make sure the hammer and mainspring/strut are properly aligned. If the strut comes out of its indent, the hammer will bind and the bolt won't slide back.

Also make sure none of the pins dropped out: they're loose and held in place by the receiver. If you lay the trigger assy on a bench, some can drop out. Not hard to fix if that happens.

I think I found the problem, but not sure how to fix. It appears the spring and plunger that go with the safety popped out somehow.
According to http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/triggerruger1022(two).htm the safety should now be able to come out. It goes a lot further than it should but it will not come all the way out.

The spring and plunger that go with the safety are out though. I can reassemble all the other parts, except for making the safety work and this is causing all the problems.

Thoughts?

That link doesn't work so copy and paste if you need to look at it.
