My Ruger 10 22 wants to lock open.... It does not do it every time, but it is doing it more often. It used to do it with hotter ammo only, now it's doing it with everything.
When I shoot, the bolt locks open,,,,,,
Could it be that the bolt lock spring is position wrong?
I appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you!

It sounds like you have a problem with the bolt lock. Assuming its a stock one. You could narrow it down by taking out just the bolt lock ONLY, out of the trigger group. Than test it out at the range to see if the problem goes away. It is part B-41 in the Ruger 10/22 parts list.

Runningman, you win the prize!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I modified the stock '' Bolt Lock '' to work like the Volquartsen bolt lock. The mistake I made was discovered last night when I was checking out the 10-22 site. They were very specific to point out that the pointed area to be ground off must NOT result in a straight cut. There MUST be a slight arc or radius at the top part of the hole after the pointy part is ground off.
I checked mine out, it was cut straight. This morning, I added an arc/radius to the top of the hole in the Bolt Lock. I just got back from the range and everything works fine.
You were right on the money with your advice.
THANK YOU!
