Being here in Alaska you all can understand that it gets quite cold.
Well, Wednesday when I went shooting it warmed up to 0 degrees!
I had planned for that an on Tuesday night I started this little project so I wouldnt have to walk around in the snow and the ice to pick up all my brass.
Really simple and really easy.

Raw materials: One steel bar, Plasi-dip spray, and extra cloth pieces (from my wife's quilting).

I bent the bar to the appropriate shape and sprayed it with Plastidip to avoid scratching:

I had my lovely and kind wife sew me a bag:

Put everything together:

Eureka! A brasscatcher that is light-weight, easily removable (just lifts right off), and never had a single hitch. Works flawlessly.

Pretty simple and easy project so I thought I'd share.

Doesn't the brass melt down into the snow making it near impossible to find? Or is it so cold that the brass is at freezing temp before it hits the snow? :)

Don't get much cold around here, but I've burned my fingers picking up brass off the ground that had been lying in the sun.

Ha ha ha Wally! Actually what the real problem comes from is when the brass hits the ice, it melts it just a bit then freezes to the ice so I either have to pry them off or kick them to even come loose!

Your situation sounds pretty rough though.
