Well good ones don't! I got two huge turkeys today,I fired 4 shots ;I missed the first one-twice. Next two one shot each-30 and 45 yards, the last was rising on wing.My Browning BPS is nothing special even has the hard rubber browning pad, except it WORKS. Seriously, I actually LOOKED for the recoil when I was shooting with a sweatshirt on ,but the 2oz. of Rem. #4s felt like a mild 12 gauge from a lighter, say 7 pound, gun. The 30" full lead only choked barrel holds a 30" pattern to almost 60 yards:what: . The thing is quiet too, compared to a 18" 12ga full of buck!Next comes wildfowl season, I load my own steel shot loads, in Alcan shells for ducks and geese as I shoot up to a couple boxes a day of those!

Congrats, Gordon.

How much does that BPS weigh? Even with adrenaline surge I'm surprised you didn't feel something...

Take it dove hunting. You'll feel it....:D

Congrats on the turkeys!

Duck season is going here and reports are it's been good so far. I've been too busy deer hunting to go, but that's going to change. Might go out Thursday, first part of the two part season ends Sunday. I've shot two bucks, so I'm giving my place a little rest before going back out there. Can't totally miss duck season after all. :D

Over 10 pounds for sure, and I use a 12ga. Browning BSS for doves.

For some reason, I think weight in a gun is under-rated for recoil reduction.

I use an SP-10 for turkeys. First shot, I figured my shoulder would be about 10 feet behind me. Pulled the trigger and recoil was way mild.

Now, I understand that the auto part takes a lot of the whack, but this thing is like shooting a 20 gauge (except a lot heavier)

I wish I could find a new manufacture (or decent condition used) double barreled 10ga for less than $500. As it stands, I think I'm just going to get a NEF 10ga.

My friend bought a used 10ga SxS a few years ago at a gun show. Excellent condition. They don't bring a lot now since 3 1/2" 12's came out. I think he paid $325. Still, you don't see them very much. Pretty heavy to lug around.

As it stands, I think I'm just going to get a NEF 10ga.

I'm thinking that will get your attention when you light it off, especially with turkey loads. Lacks weight. Might think about a real good recoil pad. If you get a chance, try a SP-10 or the original Ithica. Even with turkey loads they're real easy shooting.

6 shells later and I was Black and Blue for weeks:( A also have a Sebu Shorty that is a pussycat so NOT what I would consider recoil sensitive, BUT the combo of SXS and 10GA.....well lets just say it spends more time over the fireplace:)

i have a 10 ga. double with 26" barrels,,, big and heavy but the killing power is awsome:eek: ,,, it has choke tubes that my hunting buddy calls muffler extentions:rolleyes: ,,,,, but it is a turkey killing machine:) ,,,,, with no. 6 shot it will put 96% in a 30" circle at 60 yrds. i don't think it kicks as hard as some of the light 12ga. guns just my .02

ocharry:D

try shooting a box of bird shot (25 shells) through an ithica 10 gauge and tell me u dont come out with a blue shoulder :D

I shot six rounds of turkey loads in a fairly short time and had no problems. Some lead, some hevi-shot. Probably the combination of weight and semi-auto.

My 12 ga 3" with copper solid slugs kicks WAY more. That sucker gets your attention.

I've got a friend that has a NEF 10 gauge single shot. No thanks.
