I went to a gun show as a vendor this weekend. All of my profits went up in a cloud of smoke when I saw this beast. A Auto Ordnance 1911 in 10 mm with a box of shells. I can't wait to try it. I do believe that I have found a new carry gun.

The reason of my post (other than to gloat!) was to see what peoples experiences wit AO's pistols were. I am hoping that they haven't gone to heck since they quit making tommy guns.

I'm not sure of the relevance as my AO.45 will turn 12 this year.
That said,I've had zero problems total w/it.0,none,that's less than one, total.

I had one once, It falls under the "I wish I never sold it" category. Was not terribly accurate but quite reliable, it never once failed to work. The finish was not very duarble (I had to reblue it twice) but a good KG or park finish would have fixed that. If I could find another, I would buy it right now.

Y'know, if Kahr would introduce these again I bet they would sell a bunch. Kinda surprised that Springfield hasn't come out with a Mil Spec 10mm. I think lots of people would like to play with the caliber, but not to the point that they will fork out $800+ for a Dan Wesson or a Kimber.

I hate to rain on people's parades, but Auto-Ordinance has a pretty terrible reputation in 1911 circles. If yours works well, then you've got a bargain, but alot of them are pretty, shall we say, sub-optimal.

Sean's right about the reputation of AO 1911s, including their 10mms. I've run across a few samples in the past and wasn't impressed at all.

That said, AO's 10mm 1911s were made by the "old" AO, and production was discontinued before Kahr bought them, AFAIK.

Since Kahr owns/makes AO firearms, it's possible their 1911s may exhibit better quality control. If the Kahr-owned AO is again making a basic 1911 model in 10mm, that's news to me. And you might just have a decent one.
