With the impending expiration of the "Brady Bill" aka AWB, I'm surprised at not seeing companies taking advantage of supplying 10 Rnd magazine conversion kits to make the 10Rnd mags pre-ban capacity. It seems that all it would take is a new spring and follower on some magazines. I have Glock 19's and it wouldn't appear too difficult to do.
What gives?

Nope - one of the rules from ATFE when the ban started was 10 round mags had to be unconvertable to hi-cap. You can buy mag bodies, and build hi caps all day long, but converting will simply destroy the ten rounder.

I would not trust a modified mag. Just sell them to people in California since they have to buy 10 rounders. I am considering doing this with 2 Beretta 92 10 rounders that I have rarely used. Much easier to sell them and buy new than to modify them and hope they work. Some designs may lend themselves to modification better.

Comparing my G19 10-rounders to my G19 15-rounders, it appears the sides of the 10-rounders have thicker walls. To thin them out would take a lot of filing and cutting, and the mag wouldn't have near as much structural integrity as it did before. I'd just buy new ones. Remember, they're cheap now. :)

My Ruger MkII mags, on the other hand, look like all they need is new followers and they could probably hold 12 rounds w/o too much trouble.
