I don't understand why all the 22lr conversion kits only have 10 round mags. Advantage Arms, Ciener, Kimber, Beretta, all 10 rounds.
The mags then have skeletonized or extra thick bodies to take up the unused room in the gun. Take a Glock 22 with the Advantage Arms kit. Those mags should be capable of holding at least 20 rounds if the manufacter wanted it.
Well, why not?

I think gun makers just do things so people with nothing better to do can sit on message boards all day scratch their heads and go "why the hell would they do that" :neener:

Remember that .22LR is rimfire. After about 10 rounds in a row, the mag usually needs to be curved (to accomidate the rim). This also virtually eliminates double stacks. Second, if you don't want to have to keep track of where you can and can't sell such contraband (11+ rnd mags), then you just make them all 10 rounders.

Actually, that's most probably the first, last, and main reason. Lowest common denominator thinking is very common; it's not, however, the path to excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you going to offer High Cap Magazines if the AWB sunsets this September?

NO. High cap magazines will still be illegal to manufacture or sell in California, which is where our factory is located.

Thanks for the great responses. Hey Rembrandt, I've never seen the hi-cap HP kit. Do you know if Ciener offers hi-cap 22lr mags for the Beretta 92? I looked at the site and didn't see where it specifically states mag capacity.

Sounds to me like Cali doesn't want biz.

The Ceiner conversion for my 1911 holds 15 .22 LRs in each mag, it's pretty hot, and it's one of their selling points on the website ( www.22lrconversions.com , which, incidentally, is a pretty crappy website).

As I recall, IMI produce(s/d) a .22 autoloader called the Mountain Eagle that accepts 15- or 20-round magazines.

HighVelocity, looks like the Beretta has a 15 round mag....hope this helps.

HANDGUN .22LR CONVERSIONS
These units consist of a new slide, .22LR barrel, return spring and guide rod, recoil buffer and 15 round magazine in a fitted plastic case. They function FLAWLESSLY (guaranteed) using High Velocity, Hyper Velocity and most other quality .22LR ammunition. The units and magazines are offered in Gloss Black, Matte Black and Silver finish.

Not sure I should admit to ever having owned one, but the Grendel P-30 I once had used 30 round magazines in .22 WMR, and they were normal length pistol magazines.

Triple column rimfire magazines as a matter of fact.

After finally admitting to myself that I might have made a mistake with my purchase I traded it for a Ruger GP-100 (my first), which I promptly shot to death.
