10 round 1911 mags--Do they run?

I had some Metalform and Ed Brown 10 round .45s and they did fine. The Browns looked just like the Metalforms as to tube and follower, but they had a spot welded insertion stop instead of a stamped divot. I still use them but they have been cut off to hold 9 rounds and fit the IDPA Box. Light loaded .45s in ESP are a hoot.

If I wanted new, I would try or at least ask around about the McCormick Power Mag 10.
They protrude less than others. Nice if they work.

I was told that the Chip Power mag 10s were the most reliable. However I've heard mixed reviews on everything. You know....The whole bad press spreads faster and farther than good thing. I will be watching this thread.

i run a chip 10rnd power mag, used it for about 6 months now with almost 4K through that one mag without 1 single issue, im surprised i havn't got more of them yet... speaking of, im gonna go order a few more lol

In my experience extra capacity 1911 magazines aren't consistently reliable over the long term. I love the IDEA of getting 8 or 10 rounds in my 1911 instead of 7, but I never found one that I could be really confident it. I've finally given up on it entirely.

7 rounders with heavy duty springs are the gold standard if you want to make sure the gun actually works.

I don't know if they're the most reliable, but I have several, each with 1,000+ rounds through them, and they've been great.

Hope this helps.

Take care,
DFW1911

I've had two Meggar 10 rounders for years. They have been flawless in all my 1911's and a Camp Carbine.
