Anyone have the 10 round Wilson Combat Mags in their 1911, S&W in particular, if so, are they as reliable as the 8 round mags?:

How much do they stick out from the bottom of the gun?

Would you happen to have a picture of one in the gun?

I just pickes up a S&W SS, 5" brl.

Don't own any, but a friend uses them in IPSC. Never witnessed any problems. They do protrude.

I've got one Wilson 10 rounder and 1/2 dozen CMC 10 round powder mags. I got the Wilson especially for a SW1911PD because of the alloy frame and it has worked fine. I much prefer and recommend the CMC Power mags as they seem more beefy and substantial. CMC power mags are considerably cheaper and Midway routinely has them on sale.

I'm pretty sure that's what I had, but I never used it in 1911. However, it worked fine in a Marlin Camp Carbine.

I use both the 8 and 10 round Wilson mags in my Les Baer 1911's and I find them to be totaly reliable with several thousand rounds fired. I have never had a magazine caused malfunction with the Wilson mags.

I have been using Wilson 47-T's for years for USPSA. I have had two issues with them. On one, the tab on the front (stops over insertion) broke off. I sent it back to Wilson and they replaced the mag, no problem.

The other issue is the followers. When the mags were new, they worked fine in all my 1911's. Then during a match (an area match, of course), the follower would slip past the slide stop and push the slide stop partially out. But only on my Colt. After about another year, this would happen on all my 1911's. I bought replacement followers and springs from Wilson, and my Kimber worked OK, but not the Colt. About 6 months later, the Kimber would not work with the new followers either.

Is it possible that the nylon followers shrink/change shape over time??

I finally bought the hybrid followers that Tripp Research sells. They fit perfectly, and I haven't had a problem since.

I have NEVER had any feed issues with the Wilsons.

I use a wilson 10 rounder in my springfield milspec. It was a little tight when i first got it and neededto be tapped a little hard on the bottom to get it to lock in when i first got it. After some use, that goes away and they slide in easily. I love the plastic inside, it makes loading the magazines much easier they the solid metal kind for me. reliability has been great.
