I just bought a wilson combat 10 round 1911 mag for my springfield milspec. It seems i have to hit on the bottom of the mag to get it to go all the way in. It gets caught up about 3/4 of the way in. Is this normal? I figured buying a wilson meant it wouldnt have to be worn in?

Push in your mag release when inserting the mag and see if it eliminates the bind.

Don't know much about those 10 rounders. But my 47d s work well in my Springfield Loaded or Kimber without any problems. IMHO the 1911 wasn't meant to hold more than 8 and that is a stretch as others think the 1911 was only intended for 7. But wilson is a good company I'm sure if you have problems they will stand behind their product.

pushing in the mag release makes it slide right in. Is that normal, if so I'm taking the mag back.

It's normal. That is the top edge of the magazine bumping the bottom of the magazine catch. It will smoothe out after a few hundred reloading drills.

Wilson combat responded to my email and said that it is normal and the mag will wear in. I guess i will give it a try. The only thing that worries me is that with my springfield magazines, they slide right in and i bearly have to push on the bottom and they lock. I'd hate to mess something up on my 1911, although wilson combat did say that it will not damage the gun in anyway and should smooth out. Thanks to everyone for your responeses.
