Can anyone suggest a decent quality spotting scope for under $100? I realize it's not going to be the best. I just need something decent for spotting 25-100 yards.

Most of the scopes I have looked at in shops have been $200+, but I am just not in the position to spend that much on a scope at this time.

Thanks in advance!

Try Barska brand.
Just couple of weeks ago i bought Barska 20-60 x 60 mm spotting scope for $72.00
More than enough for what i need, no problem spotting bullet hits all the way up 250 yards.
Nice looking piece as well. Chinese brand, but what is not made in China nowadays ?

i've also heard good things about barska spotting scopes. well, for the <$100 range that is. i'm considering one myself.

check cdnn; their catalog has a 20x magnification 50mm objective scope for $24.99. Catalog page number is 134 scope number is #tar 87 let me know if you get it; thinking about one myself.

Have you tried eBay. I picked up a new 80mm 20 - 60 X with what the seller claimed was multicoated lenses (though I doubt that) for about $80 delivered from PRC.

Not a Leica, but more than adequate for what you want.

Buy a used scope or don't buy anything. You may get lucky with a Simmons.

i picked up a bushnell sentry II at big 5 sporting goods for less than $100 on sale, its adaquate to spot 22's from the ar or swift at 200 meters. at 18-36x its about the max that will steady out without some sort of motion absorbing mount. a hard shell lockable case is included. beyond those ranges, and magnification, the cost is going to go up. with any telescope, as the magnification increases, so do motion problems and errors of vision with cheaper lenses. I have seen a few hobby grade telescopes used, while a bit more delicate they can be cheaper than a spotting scope.

I have some fixed power 20 Barska binoculars. They work very well. So I will give a +1 to Barska optics. I also give a +1 to the idea of buying the spotting scope used. You can almost always find a decent used spotting scope at a local gun show. The price is typically around $40. Good luck.

I have an ancient 20x60 (??? it could be larger, but it is a 20x) tasco spotting scope that is doing it for me. I'm not sure how good the bushnell spotting scopes are, but natchezss.com has one for under $100.
