Nice looking guns on this thread. I have just one that meets criteria, but she’s special to me. 1918 Enfield, all matching.

I rescued this sporterized 1899 manufacture date springfield krag from a pawn shop in town and then sporterized it some more by adding a bedding block to the bottom of the barrel and floating the forend, modifying it to feed spitzer bullets, and making a home made scope mount. It still has an original krag barrel which looks like a sewer pipe inside. Its incredibly fickle to load for, but it does shoot quite well when its all dialed in. About a 2" group at 100 yards.

I really guess it depends on what you want.

If you are looking for pin point accuracy they take some work and may not be doable..

Problem is all Martinis are not the same, off the shelf 45 colt will never work perfectly, you will need to reload to the Martini you are shooting.. But if you are going to do all that you probably should just reload the 577/450.

But if you are happy with just good enough, going out on the being able to blast away with a few rounds on the cheap.. The adaptors work well..

They can get hot as you reload/rechamber them and some can expand so that you need to work on them to fit in the Martini better.

So get a few and play around, they are not that expensive.

Some interesting guns. To me prewar (WW2) is plenty old. But then I wonder at WW 1 being over 100 years ago. Thanks for posting.

Strange to think about it being over 100 years ago. I'm in my early 30's but when I was a kid I remember watching shows on the history channel with interviews with all these WW1 vets. Sad to think they are all gone now.

100 years sounds old but really is almost into ak47 territory. I use a few rimfire and a few 12 guage that are past that. Don't believe I have a big rifle that old.

We have said "100 years old" for so long without remembering we are getting older. We are to the point that a 100 year old car could have almost had AC and fuel injecting. Both were around by 1940. 81 years ago. One could own a 90 year old TV at this point
