I don't know what I'd buy, but I'd split the money, two-thirds for the gun and the rest for ammo.

Goon, you're probably right. So, I'd probably delete the Mosin and the Ruger GP100 and use the $350 to buy a Savage .308.

Which would give me a good rifle (Savage), a 12 gage, a semi-auto .22 rifle and a Stoeger Cougar in 9mm.

One thing I hadn't thought of though - I've never seen a blued GP-100 used, only stainless.
I'd imagine that a used blued one might go for around $300, maybe a little less if the shop owner was drunk when he priced it. :D

First & foremost, I own guns for self-defense.

Assuming I already had a carry permit, holsters, flashlights, belts, practice ammo , defense ammo, and a safe for the guns that I don't own... :confused, I'd get:

S&W 642 No-Lock
Glock 19

I'd spend the rest on XS sights for the Glock, spare mags, and speed loaders.

Barring carry guns, I'd get:
Remington 870 for HD

...and stuff for it.

Man, $1,000 isn't even a start. :) I feel incredibly wealthy all of a sudden.

Not gonna bother with the correct prices,

NEF Pardner pump with additional slug bbl....225 dollars
Bushnell 3x9x40 to mount on cantilever plus rings...80 dollars
A used Glock 17 and 2 Mod. 18 mags 500 dollars
Rest I'd spend on Hornaday slugs/winchester shot and surplus 9 mil

If I had no guns and only had $1000...

It depends on the situation. If I'm just starting my collection over, I would get a used Sig P226 and a romanian AKM.

If I thought that the S was about to HTF and I needed to stock up from scratch with $1000, I would buy a used Ruger or other cheap 9mm that was under $250, and spend the rest on Mosin rifles. I think that being able to arm the people around me is more important than being able to arm myself with my favorite guns. And Mosins are easy to take care of.
