I've mislaid the screw that holds the stock to the receiver group. Does anyone happen to know what size screw it it? I don't need the part number, I just want to know what to ask for when I go to my local hardware store.

Sign, I remeber the days when I could have brought the rifle into the hard ware store to find the screw. Heck, I remember when the guy would have known what screw it was.

Thanks so much for any help.

Joe

I think you will have a hard time finding it at the hardware store. Its shaft is smaller diameter than the threads so it is easy to install the stock, also so you dont have to completely remove it to remove the stock. I guess you could put a regular screw in but the receiver is aluminum so be careful.- Art

Call Ruger.

They may well send you one for free, and it will be in your mailbox in a few days. That's been my experience.

12-24 NC. The shank of my Volquartsen hex-head takedown screw is right at 0.90" in length. If you drill out the stock escutcheon with a 7/32" drill, a regular screw will then fit through it, and you won't have to worry about the skinnier-in-the-middle profile of the factory part.
