Bought a used 1066 last week that looked like new. Took it to the range after the customary waiting period. I loaded up 100 rounds using 180gr, Rainier flat points on top of 10gr. of AA#7. This is a relatively mild 10MM load
that I've used a lot in my Kimber that chrono's out around 1050fps.
Things were going along fine even though accuarcy wasn't as good as that of the Kimber, which I expected. About round number 75 the gun extracted about 3/8 of an inch of the case leaving the rest stuck in the chamber. Cut the thing cleanly off. Couldn't have done better with a band saw. In over thirty years of reloading I have never seen this happen. Needless to say, since I was using reloads I didn't ask any questions but rather packed it away for examination at home. Remaining piece of case came out with little effort using a .40 cal. jag. After close examination of the barrel I couldn't
find anything out of the ordinary. Now I will have to purchase a couple boxes of factory ammo to see if it happens again, kinda concerned about trying any full power loads. Anyone ever have a similar experience?
