I have been toying with the idea of building a 1911, but would love to do so in 10mm. Is this feasible? What all parts will be different other than barrel? Will the ejection port need to be lengthened on a standard .45 slide, or do I have to buy a 10mm slide? Can I do this build with a standard 1911 frame....like an Essex?

Other than the obvious, the following parts are different than 45 Govt:

---Slide (breechface for.40/ 10mm, -all Colt 9mm, .38 Super, .40/ 10mm barrels used the narrow 370 hood)
---Ejector
---Extractor
---Slide Stop
---Firing Pin

Ejection ports standard stuff. You can likely use one of the Essex frames but even though I like their stuff well enough, I would not use their cast .40 slides for a 10mm. Maybe check out Fusion Firearms. All the parts I've ordered have been top-notch & they seem to like 10mm.

I have an AutoOrdnance 10mm conversion kit for the Government Model, so it is quite feasible. I just sold it, but the $$ have not shown up yet. It has been a while, and I'm afraid the buyer might be backing out.

It consists of the ejector, ejector pin, slide, barrel, barrel link, barrel bushing, recoil spring, recoil spring guide and plug, and a 10mm magazine.
