I'm looking at a 1911 built on an Essex frame and can't figure out what manufacturer the slide is from. It has a light script like text underneath the eject port that I can't make out and no other markings on the slide that are visible. There are 12 serrations on the rear of the slide that follow the grip angle. There are no front serrations. The barrel is labeled Colt .45 Auto, MKIV/Series 70. Any ideas?

That text looks like a home engraving job. Take a piece of lightweight paper like tracing paper or old typing paper and do a rubbing with a pencil to see if you can get the markings to show up.

I agree it is an electro-pencel name or something someone put on it.

I blew up the photo, and increased the contrast, but still could not read what it says.
At any rate, it looks like free-hand writing.

It for sure didn't like like anything a manufacture would engrave on a slide.
