I recently bought a 10mm autoloader and found I like the cartridge, now I'm looking for a real gun. Does anyone make a revolver chambered for 10mm? I've not found one.
Yep. S&W model 610 is the only constant-production 10mm revolver out there. Some Ruger Blackhawks have been made in the caliber, and some Ruger Vaqueros that have come with two cylinders (one in .38-40, one in .40S&W) have been converted to 10mm. I know of a place that'll convert a Ruger GP100 to 10mm as well.
But, for a factory 10mm double action wheelgun, the 610 is about it. It's a large (N-Frame) gun, on the same frame that's meant for .44 Magnum (though possibly not hardened to the same level). In other words, like the .357 Magnum N-Frames, you can pretty much soup the cartridge up and hotload it to your heart's content. I've heard that the 610 can take 10mm loads that will "grenade" an autoloader.
It requires moonclips, but these are available from S&W, online gun parts places, and a new company called Rimz.
Last year I e-mailed Clements Custom Guns asking if it was possible to convert a GP100 to 10mm. He said he could do it, and it requires special moonclips, and that it'd cost about $500.00 (if I recall correctly). The service isn't listed on the website, and the price is obviously subject to change. E-mail him and find out!
You may want to investigate the Moonclips from Ranch Products. They are less expensive than those from either S&W or Rimz (Beckham design) aand are made of steel.
