Since I bought my Witness 10mm NIB last year, it rarely got through a full mag without choking with a spent case caught parallel in the ejection port (not stovepiped). I took a closer look and noticed that the extractor was putting no tension on the headcase at all. Anyway, last night I removed the extractor to see what's what and noticed that it says "40" on it's underside. If you've ever seen a Witness extractor, there is a "hump" that stops the extractor from pushing too far into the breech face area. Mine wasn't going in far enough, so I filed/dremeled it down until I got good cartidge tension. Problem solved. I wonder if Tanfoglio uses .40 extractors on their 10mms and this somehow causes a problem (wider slide of the 10mm)? Maybe "40" is just some kind of production code. I don't know. I also noticed that with hot loads and even with regular target loads, the slide stop would engage prematurely. I checked the clearance between the cartridge as it feeds up the magazine and there is plenty of room between it and the slide stop in the magwell. Also, I am not accidentally bumping it with my thumb during firing. Does anyone have a suggestion for solving the premature slide stop engagement? Has anyone else had this problem?

no problem yet with my full size or compact....both work great, like you stated maybe a mistake was made........
