Today I took my new BCM 11.5 inch upper out to the range for sight in and a little distance shooting. I zeroed he Holosun red dot at 50 yards with American Eagle 55 grain ball ammo. Like my other BCM barrels, this one is printing 2 to 3 MOA with ball ammo. After sighting it in I took the rifle to the long range and shot it from 300 yards out to 425ish yards. The rifle requires just a little more holdover than 16 and 20 inch rifles at intermediate ranges. Overall I find the 11.5 inch AR to be a real sweet spot for the platform. Very light and handy while still giving a workable trajectory at common ranges.

I also got to try out my Phone Skope to take good photos and video through my Razor spotter.

Photo of the hanging silhouette at 308 yards. The phot does not show how clear the glass on the Razor 85mm really is.

A few videos I took of shooting at 308 and 375ish yards. The target at 375 yards is a bit difficult to see through a red dot. Misses were more of aiming errors than rifle accuracy issues. I tried a gong at 425 yards but I couldnt see splash or hear impacts to get a good hold. Hit it a couple times out of 10 shots. I didnt upload that video, it was bad.

I then tried a couple 5 round strings standing unsupported at the 308 yard silhouette. went 2 for 5 my first try and failed miserably on the 2nd with a 1 for 5. But the 2nd video has good trace in it so I uploaded it.

Looks like a great range day. The Razor looks really clear. I like that I can see the vapor trail of the bullets in your video.

Nice, I really like my 11.5 and wish I just got a lil brother BCM 11.5 for my 16" BCM Carbine. I went with a PSA, sadly I will be doing some liposuction on my 11.5 in the next few days and remove the brace and then it will go from a "first to grab" for my wife to a "sit in the safe" gun, until the next revolution or perhaps a last minute injunction or some problem solving minded people figure out a different solution Screenshot_20230523_123155_Gallery.jpg

I had an 11.5" 5.56 and sold it to a buddy. I have since built a 10.5" Blackout and a 12.5" 5.56. I know it's anecdotal but my 12.5" has way more velocity than most 12.5 and is super accurate with IMI 77gr MK262 clone ammo.
IMHO 10.5 to 12.5 is a sweet spot for CQB without giving up too much range if done right.

I love my 14.5” BCM. Since SBR’s are verboten here behind the curtain I pinned/welded a Phantom flash hider to get me over 16”.

With a single point sling, SIG Romeo dot and a Streamlight TLS-1; it’s my go to if things go south.

Stay safe.

11.5" Black Hole Weaponry .223 Wylde barrel plus 50gr Hornady GMX (same bullet used in Hornady's "Full Boar" load) propelled by 26.5gr H322 equals 2900 fps.

Really digging that rail, carbine gas system? I have really long arms and have come to appreciate the full length Mlok rails and the mid length gas system. I have my BCM tuned perfectly, when I shoot a stock carbine it feels like garbage to me now and I hate the twang/recoil impulse.

It’s an M-4 pattern (Barrel might be stamped Gov’t pattern?), so it’s a regular carbine gas system. I do have one non-BCM mid length in the quiver, it is a smooth shooter.

I tried one of the early AR quad-rail fore ends ages ago, and as soon as these smooth M-Lok ones came out I sent that cheese grater to the parts box. It’s now either stock handguards or M-Lok ones for me.

Agreed, I have one AR with the QR rail and it's actually not bad with rubber inserts or the Knights Armament style rail covers, it just adds more bulk and weight than is really necessary but they are quite rugged and give it a cool look but in practical terms, I don't see why anybody would ever stray from the MLOK system, way more mounting uptions for grips, lights, etc at more angles.

I like the way your Mlok rail looks with a standard M4 profile and fixed FSB
